When it opened in 1873, The Chanler at Cliff Walk was a mecca in Newport, Rhode Island for financiers, industrialists and tycoons. Following a multi-million dollar restoration, it today epitomizes the glories of yesteryear with lavishly adorned mansion accommodations, and garden and ocean villas that boast private gated courtyards. The name of each room reflects its décor, from the romantic English Trellis Room to the Renaissance Junior Suite evocative of Versailles.

Christmas Day dinner was an overall disappointment. Considering the price it should have been a dinner to remember. The food was not good, it was lukewarm when served. The room was cold desspite the heaters and the blankets available.

You all saved us from a bad situation during our wedding weekend and we have been back every year since as a result. The property is amazing and the staff are second to none. My wife and I always feel infinitely more relaxed when we drive through your front gate whether it’s to spend the weekend or just to grab a hot chocolate from the hot chocolate bar!

This hotel offer great service, wonderful staff, a special location in a turn of the century mansion with water views on the cliff walk. What more could you ask for?

If arriving to Newport via Amtrak contact Lift or UBER 15 minutes before your train arrives otherwise you are waiting for the car to get there. Make restaurant reservations in advance of arrival, most places did not have seating until late evening. If you are drawn to a particular room at the Chanler book at least three months in advance to guarantee your room choice.

The Chandler was a lovely place to stay. Centrally located. Our room and the service spectacular! Loved the bedtime stories and chocolate! We dined in the living room with Kevin the bartender. He's great! We would return.

My husband and I just returned from a 3-night stay at The Chanler at Cliff Walk. Our stay was fabulous as was the staff, the Spiced Pear Restaurant and our room. It is located perfectly at the beginning of Cliff Walk and has great access to all the mansions. We have used Luxury Link many times and our stay at The Chanler was one of our best. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone!
