Four of us stayed in “the cottage” (separate 2nd, 2bath adjacent to the larger building). The cottage was spacious and well decorated. Leather couches in living room, huge table, well stocked kitchen, king size and comfy beds. It was wonderful! Breakfast was fabulous. And the restaurants (especially Hazel) and coffee (Howard’s) and wineries were accessible and wonderful.

My wife and I took a post-holiday trip to Sonoma County and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Inn at Occidental. The Inn is nicely maintained and quite cozy - a great home base for day trips out to the coast or inland to the many wineries in the area. We plan to make it an annual trip, and may time our next visit to catch the musical shows that Matt and Vicky produce spring, summer and fall.

Over all a very comfortable get-a-way. We are locals from Santa Rosa and wanted a place to relax alone, but not have a long drive. Occidental was wonderful despite the rain. The Summer room was our pick. Bed was ok, not the most comfortable. However, plenty of pillows, and soft sheets. Room was stuffy, and although cold outside, we were not able to open balcony door due to the heavy rain. So we opted for the wall AC unit. AC did not work well vents were broken. We booked the room for the large jetted soaking tub. My wife was very happy with this amenity. I am not a tub guy, so I used the shower both nights. The water did not stay hot. A continental breakfast was included and consisted of fresh berries, biscuits, croissants, yogurt, jam, butter, maple bacon, granola, coffee, and orange juice. Overall good breakfast, and our server was excellent and very friendly. Our host (Owner) never said hello or asked is about our stay. Many times I passed him and he never attempted to engage in a conversation. This is the main reason for a 3 star review. He did have visiting friends both days and seemed distracted and engaged in providing for their needs. All good, however, it would be good for him to acknowledge his guests. Hopefully this will improve for future guests. One final note. If you need ice, you will have to walk upstairs in the main house. You will find a normal refrigerator with freezer on too and ice maker. No ice bucket, zip lock bag, or other way to transport ice to room. In addition, the freezer had items for meal prep and not very clean. So no ice, bring your own if you want it with a cooler. For our next stay we will look for a more inviting host. My thanks and gratitude to our breakfast server, she was a gem.

Super nice place! Great Location, awesome breakfast (really!), helpful staff, very nice room with high quality linens and towels. Overall a great experience. Dog friendly! We had a nice stay. Occidental is pretty quiet, but it is right in the middle of plentiful dining and recreational opportunities. Definitely take the drive on Coleman Valley road to Bodega Bay or Jenner to enjoy the beach and come back via the Russian River road.

A group of girlfriends descended on the Inn at Occidental and we had a terrific two days. The new owners, Matt and Vicki were onsite, personable and made sure our visit was filled with unique experiences, personal touches and reservations at intown dining establishments. I was super impressed with how nice the accommodations were, the friendliness of the staff, the personal touches to make the stay memorable. Even down to picking a pink apple from their onsite tree. I hear they are offering a music series in September and am seriously thinking of visit again for one of those events. Highly recommend the Inn at Occidental. So much to enjoy at the Inn, so much to check out in town and the local area. Hiked a local fern and redwood grove and visited Freeman winery for a tour. Wow, wow, wow!
