Reviews for Hanford House Inn

Excellent Surprise

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

Wow. You'd never expect a hotel of this quality in Sutter Creek. Beautiful furnishings, clean and quiet. Stayed on a Sunday night, and thankfully, it was practically empty. After thousands of nights over the past 40 years, this was a winner. Quite possibly the only place worth staying in the area. Would absolutely stay again. No hassles or disappointments. Scones/breakfast first-class. No elevator to the second floor, but we (a pairs of 60+s) didn't need one.

Great place to stay in gold country

Wonderful experience at this small hotel. Large room with balcony, wifi and air-conditioning (needed in summer!), coffee/tea/scones every morning — before the made-to-order breakfast, which is also included on weekdays. The front desk/concierge person Gina was fantastically friendly and helpful, particularly since she worked in nearby wineries and can make recommendations. Parking is included. It's a short walk to "downtown" Sutter Creek, with its small-town cafes, antiques, and other attractions. As luck would have it, we were there during their annual Historic Ragtime Festival — impressive musicians and loads of fun. Between wine-tasting, music, and riding all the mountain passes on our motorcycles, this was the perfect no-hassle getaway.

Highly recommend

This was our second stay at Hanford House. The first stay was more than nine years ago when we left a 5 star review. Hotel lodging ages and fades fast, however the Hanford House has maintained its high quality. Our room was clean, modern and had all required amenities. The extra water was a good touch in view of recent very high temps. Service was perfect and the breakfast scones, morning coffee and included breakfast were all very good. We asked for white wine tasting recommendations and the hotel had a list of recommendations by wine type. Just what we needed. The onsite Tesla charger was another good plus. Highly recommend and we hope it’s not another 9 years before we return!

Modern quiet, peace and luxury in a very special town

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 months ago

We arrived in the beautiful town of Sutter Creek and were so delighted when we saw our hotel, the Hanford House. Modern, beautiful rooms with all amenities. Warm welcome, and an excellent restaurant (Element) attached. Limited parking. The town is around the corner, and is delightful to walk at any time - morning, afternoon or night. Can't wait to return.

Old but nice

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed November 27, 2023

It was the nicest place to stay within walking distance of the theater. We were there for a concert and it was easier to park close and walk, so we chose the Hanford House. It's an old property but it's clean and comfortable. The staff is very nice. They delivered scones at 7:30 am. They just leave them by the door. They don't knock and wake you up (nice). I'm not a fan of scones because they are dry and these were no exception. As others have said, there is no elevator. They gave a $25 voucher for breakfast at their restaurant. It was tasty. There is Greek place just around the corner that seemed to offer a regular American breakfast. I wanted to try it, but we ended up using the voucher.

Hanford House Bed & Breakfast Inn in Sutter Creek is the nicest B&B that we have ever stayed in! The food was excellent and the rooms are beautiful, and the special attention to details was truly a delight. We were given the 'best' and it was something out of a decorator's magazine. The innkeepers were so helpful and friendly. We will definitely be going back to Hanford House!

For our honeymoon we stayed at Hanford House Bed & Breakfast Inn in the quaint, little town of Sutter Creek. We arrived just before dinnertime and the innkeeper had made a reservation for us at a nice local restaurant for our first dinner as a married couple. This was our first B & B experience and we enjoyed the entire stay!

What an amazing place, tucked away from it all is the Hanford House Inn. My husband and I spent two wonderful nights there and were able to walk to the quaint shops nearby and drive to the many wineries. We can’t wait to go again.
