Rooms and common areas are blissfully comfortable. Restaurant is incredibly accomodating to all manner of dietary issues. Food is outstanding. Every single staff member I met in 4 days was focused on ensuring that every need was accomodated in the friendliest means possible. You simple cannot beat this place. I have traveled all over the world and this is probably the single best hotel I've ever stayed at.

I was very disappointed with my prenatal massage. It does not say in the description that this is a Swedish massage and that they have a policy in place that this specific massage can ONLY be a Swedish massage. I was only told this once already in the massage room. If I had known this was a Swedish massage I would have never booked this service. I also asked for more time to be dedicated to my hands and feet. It was not apparent that more attention was dedicated to these areas but more so that there was a full body routine that the massage therapist stuck to. For a service in this price range I was very upset with the quality and the upfront information I was presented with. I don’t even know why I was asked at the beginning about my preferences or problem areas since it didn’t seem like they had the ability to cater to them.

Woodloch is an oasis with an amazing spa, excellent food and wonderful customer service. We loved taking the fitness classes and using the various spa amenities (pools, hot tubs, sauna…). My mother, sister, and I just had the most relaxing weekend. We look forward to making this an annual visit.

This was my third stay at this resort, and this stay unfortunately will be the last. We arrived Friday afternoon after a multiple hour detour due to a snow storm and were told all walking paths outside were closed due to the snow (heavy tree limbs snapping and breaking). The hatchet throwing class we signed up for was also cancelled due to the weather. Obviously the weather is out of the resort's control so at this point we were just thrilled to be there and relax. We had massages which were phenomenal as always. The spa staff were wonderful. We enjoyed the snacks and tea in the lounges. Dinner was good, not spectacular, but at this point we were still enjoying ourselves. We loved the room and it was immaculately clean as in previous visits, as was the whole resort. Where things started to go wrong: between 9 and 10pm the power went out. It was pitch black in the room, but we were almost ready for bed so we just used our phone flashlights and went to sleep. We woke up in the morning to an incredibly cold room with no electricity. At this point I was just surprised that such an expensive and nice resort in the middle of the woods does not have enough generators to keep the entire resort running smoothly when the power goes out. The WiFi was still working so I was surprised that the hotel didn't send a text or email to the guests to explain what was happening. I opened the door thinking maybe they left notes on the doors with information, but again- nothing. I went downstairs in search of an update and some coffee at 7:30 (the restaurant is supposed to open at 7). The man at the restaurant told me they are setting up coffee in the room across the hall now. I sat and waited 15 minutes and there still wasn't coffee. I went back to ask him the status and he went in the back and said they are trying to figure out how to grind the beans without power and if they can figure it out, there will be coffee at breakfast which should open shortly. At this point I'm still finding it incredibly odd that a resort in the mountains and woods doesn't have backup plans for when the power goes out (even instant coffee would be fine!). The front desk acted irritated when I asked them what is happening and didn't offer any solutions. We had breakfast a half hour later which was COLD. Cold sausage, cold french toast, weak and lukewarm coffee. We went back to the room which was getting increasingly cold and starting to smell musty from lack of airflow. We went back to the front desk and asked what the plan was. They said the power will be back on tomorrow night at 11. We asked if the spa is still open and they said very rudely "you'll have to go and ask them." Seriously? The front desk isn't aware what is going on with the spa?? We asked if we leave will we be refunded and they said they would give us a one night credit to come back. We were supposed to be there for a full weekend (noon Friday until the end of the day Sunday). I asked why we wouldn't be given a two night credit since we didn't even get close to a full day before the power went out at 9 and all of our activities were cancelled the day before. They first argued with me saying the power went out at 10 and then said "you had dinner, didn't you?" During the entire conversation I was pleasant and polite and they did not offer a single empathetic statement or any solutions to the problems we noted (our room is freezing cold- maybe offer additional blankets? Our bathroom is pitch black- maybe offer lanterns?). The entire exchange was them acting like we inconvenienced them with our questions. We then went back to our room and decided to pack up and leave. When we came back down to the desk the woman told us we'd be credited with a free night stay. I told her we are not happy with how we were treated this morning and would like a refund. The manager came out, asked zero questions about why we wanted a refund, and just said "we can't control the weather but we will refund half of your stay." Had she asked she would have known it was their response, not the weather, that made us decide to leave, but as this point we were not willing to continue trying to have a conversation with people who were not listening. For the amount of money they charge and the level of service his resort claims to have, it amazes me they are so ill prepared to deal with a storm. Despite the power outage, we would have stayed had they been pleasant and tried to make our stay comfortable despite the lack of heat and lights.

From the front gate entry to checkout this was an amazing experience. Greeted promptly upon drive up, somebody took our bags and whisked them away. They took our car and we never used it again until checkout. The spa is beautiful. There is a snow room which I loved. Only snow room in the country they said. All staff were very pleasant and always ready to help. Beautifilly crafted displays for all sorts of things from simple water stations to snacks. Three meals a day are included. Specials each night for dinner. The dishes are very well presented and feels like a 5 star dining experience at every meal. Wait staff very attentive but not overboard as I have seen at some high end restaurants. The rooms are very comfortable and large. Plenty to do for nearly everyone. Classes from yoga to cooking demonstrations run al day long. Bird hikes, biking...so much to do or just relax in the spa. spent two nights and got there early to get full day use of the facilities on arrival day. Love this place Worth every penny spent. Kudos to staff here.
