Join us deep in the heart of the world’s most celebrated wildlife reserves, where the Big Five – the lion, the leopard, the buffalo, the elephant and the rhinoceros – run free on the endless, untamed landscape. Perched on a series of elevated platforms and walkways, our Lodge sits next to an animal watering hole, where you can watch a family of elephants stop for their morning drink as you sip your own out on your room’s private balcony. Under the constant protection of local Maasai tribes people, we’ll take you in the bush for an exhilarating game drive, or you can soar high in the sky on a hot-air balloon safari. However you spend your day, our Spa is waiting to help you rehydrate, restore and re-energize for your next adventure. Our only question – where would you like to begin?

Well if you are going to do Safari, go Serengeti and, to hell with it, go Four Seasons. The Serengeti is so beautiful and where best to soak it all in than the Four Seasons. Getting to Seronera airstrip is a delightful short flight from Arusha, so close to Kilimanjaro. The pick up transfer is a Game Drive in itself. The Game Drives are superb. Your own personal vehicle and superbly knowledgeable Guide. (Thanks Bushiri). The Ngorongoro Crater drive is long (4 hours) but is it worth it? Hell yes. Unbelievable coming together of so many animal species, the like of which you are unlikely to see elsewhere. Humbling. The balloon trip is a must (yes an early start but essential viewing). As for the hotel well there are various blocks of accommodation with differing views. Watering hole view is popular but you are also viewing the pool. The savannah view is just as good if not better. Authentic views and great sunsets. The animals steal the show obviously but the hotel provides a more than comfortable and non intrusive base. Some issues which we flagged were sorted and Marisa and her team went above and beyond to help us with flight issues out of Seronera (be prepared for organised chaos on leaving Seronera Airstrip). Wow. What a trip.

I will start with the good... The hotel is beautiful, the staff in the restaurants and spa were so friendly and welcoming. Being dropped in the middle of a national park, you'll be at the resort 24/7, it's not like a vacation where you can even go down the road on a walk, so you definitely want to stay somewhere nice because you cannot leave. There is someone to walk you to you room after dusk, because the animals free roam the property, there was always staff nearby to assist you. We so enjoyed seeing Alex everyday by the pool and chatting with him. Shout out to our driver Goustone I, he was so knowledgeable and was so fun to have along with us for our game drives and transportation, if we were to return we would ask for him again. The spa was beautiful and open, having massages with animals roaming below you is so tranquil. I loved the body scrub and massage, it was so relaxing. The food was delicious, and we had plenty of options. The cocktails were great, and we were bombarded with unlimited champagne every minute of the day. Now the bad... After spending 6 hours of transportation to get to the seronera airstrip, we were excited to be greeted by our driver. We notified 2 separate employees of a flight change, and were confirmed back on the change. But we arrived to nobody and confusion, luckily there was another employee who waited with us. So we sat in a hot car with flies landing on us, no water, four an hour. Not the Four Seasons welcome one would expect. THEN when we arrived to the hotel, Ashley apologized and told us they simply made a mistake. And that she had already upgraded our room the day before... Why would you tell the guest you upgraded them the day before and not make it seem like it was because they screwed up? They also gifted us a bush dinner for the mistake which was nice, however our room was directly next to construction going on at the hotel. So that sucked. On another day, we again changed the time for a game drive and cut our spa appointment short because of it. Then we waited in the lobby, when our driver was late I knew they'd messed it up again because he was always waiting for us. And it was confirmed when he asked us if we changed the time. He also thought we were staying an additional day, but thankfully we confirmed our departure time with him directly. Why is it so hard for the front desk here to coordinate itinerary? Not sure, but it was disappointing to say the least. This was also in low season, I cannot imagine how it would be when the hotel was busier. All in all I would recommend staying here, just be prepared for schedule mistakes.

Let me begin by saying that this hotel was THE BEST ALL INCLUSIVE HOTEL I HAVE EVER ENJOYED. Period. No exaggeration. And I have traveled a lot. Everything was perfect from being picked up at the airstrip, with champagne, fruits and beverages waiting; to the curated ride to the hotel; to being greeted warmly with cool towels; to unparalleled customer service for our entire stay. Every detail was considered and cared for. The exemplary customer experience is sincere, and palpable. The hotel itself is impeccable. Serengeti is amazing and memorable. Our two safari rides were incredible! The guide Gaston was profoundly knowledgeable. The amount of animals we saw was truly remarkable. We had a herd of elephants' drink at the pond outside of the pool as we were swimming, then visited by a curious baboon! I would like to recognize a few people in particular: Abdul at the airstrip is tremendously capable and was very calming when my son (who we were expecting) was not there, and his bag later did not arrive. Abdul said "Mr. Fil, don't worry. This is my problem. I will fix it. You just relax and enjoy your stay". How perfect is that? And he did all that he said he would. My son was located on a later flight, his bag was brought to our room the next day. Alex at the pool area is a charming young man that hand wrote common swahili terms for our use while there. My family and I referred to it commonly. Nemis (sp?) our waiter was the picture of courtesy and responsiveness, and sincerely a nice guy. He would go out of his way to remember my tastes (Gin and tonic) and have it ready when I sat. Matthew Senyard would sincerely ask how our stay was, and meant it. I told him we had a problem with our bath, and when we returned to our rooom someone was there to fix it. Immediately. Lastly, Marissa Fernandes, the General Manager is phenomenal. Professional, truly warm and kind, runs a tight ship, and sincerely embraces real customer service. She embodies it. When we arrived, she came up to us to welcome us and truly meant it. She welcomed us to her "home". When we left, she and her staff farewelled us with lunch and drinks and waved goodbye. I felt as if I were leaving relatives. It was very nice. I recommend a stay at the Four Seasons, Safari Lodge, Serengeti, Tanzania without reservations. I have not overstated the excellence of the Lodge, or its services. They are that good. You owe it to yourself to see the Serengeti-in grand style. Trust me, you'll be glad you did! Paul Fil
