The Point was designated as the first Relais & Châteaux member of North America 39 years ago and is the only Forbes Five Star property in Upstate New York. Built by William Avery Rockefeller II a century ago, the fanciful log mansions, crafted of native timber and stone, personifies the 19th Century romantic notion of “roughing it” in great comfort, style, and luxury. Today, The Point pays tribute to this tradition by honoring guests with its unique combination of warm, gracious hospitality, privacy, and thoughtful services in each detail of one’s visit. Enjoy an unforgettable stay at The Point, the only Adirondack Great Camp from the Gilded Age open to the public.

What more can be done beyond Perfection??!! We have been guests of 'The Point' for some 15 years, and every year it just gets better and better. We have seen The Point evolve over the years as many fabulous improvements have been put in place by the owners, Laurie and Pierre Lapeyre! They are the force that is behind the magnificent staff, who are the True Heart and Soul of this incredible property! This year saw a significant change in the appointment of the new Relais & Châteaux Chef, D'Anthony 'Storm' Foster. Storm has brought a new level of extraordinary culinary excellence that has been nothing short of amazing! Add to this the ALWAYS fabulous staff, the splendid environment of the property, and the many added accoutrement that every guest enjoys, and you have a vacation that simply can't be exceeded!

We just returned from an incredible weekend at The Point celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary joined by our adult children. We had heard that The Point was special but the experience exceeded our expectations. Most people rave about summer and autumn experiences, but I must say that going in the winter is also amazing. When the lake is frozen. there are more adventures to be had, but for us, spending time walking, dining and playing in the pub room were really fun. Lunch at Camp David, coffee in our rooms first thing, and dress up for the evening meals was super fun. It wasn't crowded right after New Year's in January so we felt like The Point was our private paradise. The Rockefeller property is luxury Adirondack with each room uniquely decorated and appointed. We stayed in the Boathouse and it was truly outstanding. The view, the fireplace, the comfort of the bed, the decor; everything was luxurious. Having a massage in the room and a photographer for our gathering were extra treats which were happily arranged. The best part of the experience was the staff who did everything to make our time magical and memorable from the moment we arrived until our sendoff. Thank you to Matt (who coordinate reservations and extras) to Kyle (an amazing host), Nate, Tyler, Kara, Shane, Josh and everyone else. What a team of lovely people who aim to please. It is so clear they all love The Point and work very hard to have their guests love it too. Thank you and we'll be back.

The Point deserves the accolades it has received. An absolute must for sophisticated travelers who appreciate exceptional service, fine dining in an intimate setting on Lake Serenac. My husband and I went during Fall Foliage season. It was absolutely stunning.

My wife and I spent a perfect holiday season weekend at The Point just before Christmas 2021. From the moment we arrived, it was magical. In our cozy cabin, our favorite beverages awaited us, and beneath a little glass dome were some adorable desserts: A pair of cookies shaped like red stockings, and Christmas tree and snowman confections. We had visited The Point for the first time 10 months earlier and encountered a few hiccups in our stay, but our return was flawless. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful two nights. The timing of our stay meant it was far too late for summertime activities and a bit too early for most wintertime ones, so we mostly took the opportunity for our visit to be a relaxing, indulgent escape from the hecticness of the holidays. We wrote Christmas cards by the fire, had a wonderful massage, sipped cocktails in the bar and, of course, had some phenomenal meals beside the towering tree in the dining room. We enjoyed one lunch at Camp David and took a short drive to the Wild Center, an incredibly worthwhile trip when it’s awash in holiday lights. At night, we enjoyed some truffle fries, grilled cheese and hot chocolate with the best vanilla bean whipped cream you could imagine. This is a truly special property, one that I hope to return to someday soon.

Our stay at The Point provided an unparalleled luxurious experience. Each team member proved a welcoming combination of professional and friendly and appeared to take genuine delight in exceeding expectations. We enjoyed a perfect balance of communal and private experiences, allowing us to meet several wonderful and interesting guests while also relishing in serenity at just the right moments. We will be back!
