Nestled in Nature

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Enjoyed a studio room in river run area of the resort during peak fall color. The ambiance of the room among the trees and near the river made this much more than just another luxury resort. This was a welcome quiet oasis in nature. I treated myself to a massage. Be prepared for some uphill walking to get to the spa. Spa is rustic. Massage was good. The property is hilly in spots. I used room services for my meals. The only negative was the noise and dust from the construction of a new lodge but this was in the front of the property and a long way from my room. I wish I could have gotten here a few years ago. The drive in along Alpine loop road was awesome.

Thanksgiving to remember

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We stayed at Sundance for a few nights with the family over Thanksgiving. There was a beautiful well timed light snowfall before we came which really made the resort look like a winter wonderland. There was a confusion with our Thanksgiving lunch reservation but F&B Manager Cameron Wylie saved the day and truly went above and beyond. He accommodated our group of 9 with a private room that was actually perfect for a special needs family member. The feast, which was created by Chef Stephanie, was the best buffet we have ever had. Thoughtful and special touches like the Pasta Alla Ruota (prepared in a cheese wheel), ice sculptures, amazing vegetable selection (ohhh those brussel sprouts!) and delicious cocktails made this a meal to remember. A 15 yr old in our party said it was his favorite family meal of his life. We booked several different accommodations. The Sunstone cabin worked great as a family basecamp to hang out and prepare meals (it is a bit shy on cutlery and cooking utensils). The Standard Suite with giant king bed, fireplace and private deck was cozy. Our Sundance Suite was a massive studio apartment with sunny deck and well appointed living room area. Our dog was welcomed with a fresh dog bed, food/water bowls and Sundance bandanna. The spa is sparse with just a showered bathroom for changing. The hot tubs and sauna are located toward the middle of the resort, far from the spa. I enjoyed a Sports recovery CBD massage from Shelby who really helped my problem shoulder. The only thing I would change is the limited fall season activities. The resort did not feel crowded at all and we all hope to be back next year! Everyone wants to come back next year!

My Birthday Trip

The suite was beautiful and having a room near the river was gorgeous. That's just where it stops. The food is disgusting. The best was the deli. Some amenities were unavailable. Also, shuttle services took forever. It's not worth what we spent

Sundance Stables

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We went riding at the stables. The girl in charge hit a horse on the head for sniffing another horse in the corral before we left, and threatened to hit another that didn't seem to do anything wrong- All this seemed innapropriate and unnecessary. There were no minorities working there, and no men. The girl leading the group talked nonstop the entire two-hour ride, demanding we focus our attention on her and the conversation instead of enjoying the incredible beauty without her nonstop influence. We think she did this to secure a tip. It was annoying and did not allow us just to ride and enjoy. Will try other stables-

Ziptours aren't worth the cost

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I have been to Sundance many times over the past 22 years, but the zip tour was the only time I've left really disappointed. For $150, I expected more. We've been on zip tours out of state, and for the same price, the other was much longer and more enjoyable. The views are incredible, but the zip tour itself was mostly the ride up the mountain. The equipment also felt old and clunky compared to our other experience. I regret the purchase, and the other group on our time slot expressed similar feelings: They had also experienced a zip tour somewhere else that was much better for a similar price. I'd do it again for maybe $30, but not for $150.
