From April to December 2020 with Covid restrictions in place, these are the hotels that people booked the most on Luxury Link. Not surprisingly, all are in the US, with the majority in SoCal and the southwest. Travelers wanted wide open spaces and pet-friendly hotels—preferably within driving distance—but our top three prove a great deal trumps everything.
La Cantera Resort & Spa
San Antonio was a popular destination last year, with two hotels in the top ten. La Cantera’s location 20 miles outside the city with plenty of open space and outdoor activities earned it rave reviews for being Covid vigilant, yet relaxed and comfortable. Signature Perks include breakfast for two daily and a $100 resort credit.
Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego
San Diego was a top travel destination in the time of Covid, with three hotels making the list. This pet-friendly downtown hotel provided a change of scenery for families tired of working and schooling at home. Signature Perks include breakfast, free WiFi, and a welcome amenity.
The Omni Grove Park Inn
Tying for ninth place is The Omni Grove Park Inn situated amidst the Blue Ridge Mountains. Guests found respite in the mountain views, fresh air, and championship golf course.
Inn by the Sea
For those who wanted to get away—far away—from the crowds, this outpost on the coast of Maine was perfect. Plenty of brisk ocean air and secluded suites with private entrances provided a relaxing sense of security. Signature Perks include full breakfast for each guest daily and a $100 spa credit.
L’Auberge Del Mar
Two of the three San Diego properties that made the list are wellness oriented resorts, with L’Auberge Del Mar tying for seventh. Families, couples and their pets enjoyed tennis, Electra beach cruisers, and evenings by the fire pit. Signature Perks include full breakfast for two daily at Coastline Restaurant and a $100 resort credit.
Salamander Resort & Spa
The only 5-Star destination resort in the D.C. area delivered plenty of outdoor, socially distanced activities, including a full equestrian center, and lawn games such as croquet and life-sized chess. Signature Perks include breakfast for two daily and a $100 resort credit.
Lodge at Torrey Pines
Sixth place goes to another sprawling San Diego area resort, Lodge at Torrey Pines. Guests socially distanced outdoors with self-guided hiking tours, yoga, croquet, and golf. Signature Perks include daily breakfast and a $100 spa credit.
Delano Las Vegas
It’s no wonder that this swanky Vegas icon made the list when it is practically paying you to stay there. Weekday rates in early 2021 are as low as $59 per night, with breakfast for two and a $100 resort credit included.
Hotel Teatro
At first we were surprised that Denver was so popular, but when you consider how stressful the year was, and how easy it is to “mellow out” in the Mile High City, it makes perfect sense. Signature Perks include breakfast and complementary valet parking.
Royal Palms Resort & Spa
The elegant Scottsdale vibe, a location at the base of Camelback Mountain, and private running and biking trails made this Unbound Collection resort the fourth most booked in 2020. Signature Perks include breakfast daily and a $100 spa credit.
Hotel Emma
With two money-saving offers to choose from, trend-setting culinary experiences, and one-of-a-kind accommodations, it is no wonder Hotel Emma was our third most booked hotel. Through April, you can select either a fourth night complementary, or else daily breakfast and one special dinner for two.
Terranea Resort
Rancho Palos Verdes, California
Just south of Los Angeles, this back-to-nature resort was our second most popular in 2020. It’s the perfect weekend getaway with award-winning golf, four swimming pools, boutiques, and adventures on land and at sea. Signature Perks include breakfast for two daily and a $100 resort credit.
Wynn Las Vegas and Encore
The most popular hotel on Luxury Link in 2020 was the Wynn Las Vegas and Encore, with nearly twice the number of bookings of any other property—and we wouldn’t be surprised if it tops 2021 as well. They continue to offer your third night complementary, as well as breakfast for two daily, a $50 resort credit, and a $50 spa credit. Everyone is a winner with this 5-Star deal.
