Whether or not you actively follow the fashion world, its glamour cannot be ignored. Not only is fashion diverse, but it’s world-wide! There are locations all over the world that not only provide an excellent fashion experience, but are awesome for tourism and other experiences. Even if fashion isn’t your forte, you should seriously consider visiting one of the cities on our list:
- Paris: Why does this city top our list? It should be pretty obvious. Paris has been at the top of the fashion scene for decades and decades. Paris has pushed fashion out from its roots since the beginning—Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette really started the attribution of the French with high fashion. Other huge designers call Paris home, like Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, and Chanel. Paris also offers a unique cultural experience, a nostalgic charm, and some of the most famous landmarks in the world. Paris Fashion Week is held twice a year, encompassing spring/summer and fall/winter collections of the featured designers—the dates are usually near the end of September and beginning of October. Even if you don’t plan to attend Paris Fashion Week, easily one of the biggest events in the fashion world, it is still the perfect destination for your next trip.
- New York City: Some of the most trendy and fashionable people walk the streets of New York City year-round. During New York Fashion week, held every February and September, the top names flock to the city to see the latest collections from the best designers, including New York natives like DKNY, Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, and Christian Siriano. In addition to the fashion scene, New York has a blend of cultural backgrounds that create a unique and truly American experience.
- London: Style in the UK comes to a peak in the London scene, which combines the best elements of Indian, Punk, Goth, and a unique flavor that you won’t see anywhere else in the world. Names like Alexander McQueen, Burberry, and Stella McCartney originated in London! Visit London during its Fashion Week, held every February and September, or tour the streets to see truly unique and individualistic styles from Londoners.
- Indonesia: Did you know that Indonesia has its own fashion week? You do now! Indonesia Fashion Week, held during March, is particularly geared toward Muslim and Asian-inspired fashion. It’s something that isn’t seen in high fashion very often, and also provides a unique cultural experience in the process.
- Tokyo: Fashion in Tokyo is hot, and street fashion dominates the scene, as well as haute couture. It’s a whole world of its own, and it’s a must-see for anyone looking to completely immerse themselves in a new world of culture, technology, and some of the most interesting fashion in the world.
