Booked a online a couple of months in advance as a one night pre-Christmas break for ourselves and our dog. Notified them in advance by email that we would be bringing a dog and received a response advising that there would be a £50 per night charge for the dog and attaching their dog policy. As a responsible dog owner, I wasn't particularly worried by the dog policy as we wouldn't be leaving the dog alone in the room. We would be unable to eat in the Grill but could use the other restaurants - not a problem as the Grill wouldn't be our first choice. On arrival, the receptionist was unaware that we were bringing a dog. I was promptly asked to pay the additional £50. For the £50, we were provided with a hard plastic dog bed, a throw, a towel food/water bowl and a large bundle of poo bags. No dog treats were included (though I believe they should have been). Room was comfortable (though showing signs of wear and tear) - chipped bath, scratched sink, etc. and we were slightly disappointed in the room bearing in mind how much we had paid. My main complaint is in the choice of restaurants. La Vista (where we planned on taking the dog for dinner) was closed and the other restaurant (The Clubhouse) was 3 miles away! We would only be allowed in the lounge area at The Clubhouse (not the restaurant) and, although transport is available from the hotel, it stops at 5.45 and we were not permitted to use with the dog. The only option left to us was to eat in The Tavern (think of it as an expensive Wetherspoons) - although nearly empty, we had to wait 15 minutes to place a drinks order. Breakfast is served in the Grill and, when I pointed out to the receptionist that we would be unable to dine there as we had a dog, was advised that we could have breakfast in the room though this would be subject to a tray charge. There was no means of ordering breakfast in the room. I did point all of the above out to the receptionist as we were leaving and she said she would raise with the duty manager. She did look at refunding us the charge for the dog but was unable to do so as I had asked that the charge for the dog be taken from a gift voucher I had used to cover the cost of any extras. I was also offered a take-out breakfast which I also declined - sitting in a car park eating breakfast didn't really hold much appeal. Suggestion to hotel management - why not go and look at The Bonnie Badger in Gullane (featured in the Michelin guide) and see how they can accommodate dogs in their main restaurant?

Lovely stay in one of the newer family rooms. Usually stay in the classic rooms but felt last trip that these had become a bit tired. The newer rooms were gorgeous. Huge freestanding bath and bunk bed room for the kids was just a bit bigger and brighter than the classic - and the ladder was much easier for the kids to use for the top bunk. Staff were all amazing and so friendly. Christmas decor was beautiful. Food at La Vista was exceptional. Breakfast was exceptional - better to get there early before it starts getting busy. We had a cocktail in Great Scots bar and couldn’t rate it highly enough, absolutely gorgeous setting. We had been a few weeks before and felt the hotel had been losing its charm, but felt this trip completely redeemed it. Only let down, which was really not a big issue, was that there was no kids robes in the room like normal, but this may no longer be something provided? It’s a big novelty factor for the kids, but not something to complain about. Looking forward to our next visit already.

I went to Cameron House with my husband for a special tasting menu evening with the talented chef Rohan Wadke. What a feast for all the senses! Delicious courses, beautiful atmosphere, professional and friendly service PLUS the chef came out before every course and explained about the course itself with a little background story that inspired it. I highly recommend it!

Recently stayed at Cameron House and first impressions were fantastic. Paul quickly attended to us, carrying our suitcases for us and guided us to reception where Linsay checked us in and ensured we were well informed of everything. The room was lovely, spotless and very fancy. Only negative was one of the champagne glasses were chipped and an iron was missing but Matthew and Fiona from Housekeeping very quickly resolved this for us. We also asked for a few extra tea bags and Samantha from Housekeeping was there in a flash! We went to Lavista for Dinner and the food was lovely although the experience was the main negative of our stay we waited about 20 minutes on our drinks, and the waitress explained they were changing the barrel, then someone else said they were away to get more pint glasses? and then after dinner we waited a further 20 minutes for our bill. So the drinks were taken off the bill. Not the end of the world but it wasn't that busy so to wait that long for the bill was excessive. Staff were very friendly though. We had a great nights sleep and enjoyed the breakfast in the morning, Janice very kindly got our luggage for us and Laurie brought round our car. Colin also looked after us throughout our stay and made us aware there was Christmas markets so we made our way to there too. All staff we encountered were very professional and introduced themselves to us and ensured we were well looked after. Overall a really enjoyable stay! We will be returning!

On arrival we were told to wait and we would be seated once member of staff was finished dealing with another customer. The room was beautifully decorated and comfortable seating with loch views. Children crying and running about not the staffs fault but not conducive to a relaxing afternoon tea. Excellent choice of teas and coffees which you could choose from. The afternoon tea is a set menu, but you can advise of allergies, which I had done in advance so as not to upset the chef. So imagine the disappointment when substitutions of food I was allergic to were a second piece of quiche and a tomato relish finger sandwich with tomato. Poor!! The cakes were a strange and over powering mix of flavours that just didn’t taste nice and we couldn’t eat. The scones were APRICOT and plain, with catering quality strawberry jam and cream. I had to ask for a refill of tea after patiently waiting 20 minutes as waitress serving us never noticed our cups were empty. We’ve had many amazing afternoon teas: Lochgreen Hotel, Dunkeld House Hotel and Turnberry who know how to do quality afternoon teas.
