Seemingly molded into the side of a jagged cliffside is the Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi – part of the LVX collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts. Teetering high above the Amalfi Coast, this former 13th-century monastery is now a glorious hotel situated along the Italian seaboard. Impeccably restored to its original splendor, yet not without expected conveniences, the Grand Hotel features just 53 tasteful rooms and suites with a white motif and latte accents. French doors push open revealing Juliet-style balconies encased with ornate iron balustrades and million-dollar seascape views. The hotel's crisp alabaster color scheme is infused with brilliant hues courtesy of blooming bougainvillea, leafy emerald plants and azure reflections from the sea.

Beautiful resort overlooking the Amalfi coast. Very serene and relaxing. Only negative was the lack of air-conditioning which made it uncomfortable to sleep at night

Staying at Anantara Amalfi was a wonderful experience. The interior design is truly unique, blending modern elements with charming historical details. Our room offered a stunning ocean view, which made the stay even more special. We especially appreciated Roberto at the reception—he was incredibly enthusiastic and helpful, providing excellent guidance on transportation and local attractions.

This hotel has all the elements of a five star….the property is beautiful and historic, the decor is modern and clean, the setting is perfect….except, the service was marginal. My daughter and I arrived early (approximately 3 hours before check in) and our room was not ready, which is fine. Except we were offered a complimentary lemonade, and nothing else. We waited at the same spot on the terrace…never moved, and were not approached the entire time by any hotel staff. While waiting we would have at the very least ordered a drink and gladly paid for it, and we even would have eaten lunch. No one—came to offer anything, and at approximately 2 1/2-3-hour time frame, I approached the desk to be told they “were just coming to tell us our room was ready.” We were escorted to the room, were given a brief review of the amenities, left to wait for our bags, which arrived approximately 15 minutes later. While looking over the room we noticed the bidet had hair in it, and could not operate the TV. At that point we decided to make the best of it, after all we were only there for 1 night. Well, the “distant” customer service behavior continued, with the exception of the bell staff, they were very accommodating and attentive. I would not recommend this hotel for the price—so expensive, and the service did not match the price by any means. For context, my daughter and I stayed at 3 other 5-star hotels during our trip, Hotel Grand Tremezzo, Is San Pietro di Positano, and Hotel Hassler, so we are accustomed to great service with beautiful accommodations. Thank you.

The view from a hotel is something very unique, it’s probably highlight of the property, staff is very friendly and helpful, we visited in April so wasn’t possible to use the pool, water is not heated and it was chilly outside.

Located at the most beautiful seat of Amalfi, Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel is an experience within the property itself that will immerse you in history, daily relaxation activities like yoga and breath work, and opportunities to meditate and contemplate among a lemon grove overlooking the coast, harbor and rugged/terraced coast. The staff immediately made us feel very comfortable at the very first steps entering into our check-in. Our daughter, Carmela, loved all of the caring staff who made her feel so at home, especially staff Carmela, who had the same spelling as her name. Carmela anticipated that our daughter was cold and brought her a blanket, and other staff provided her with such beautiful kindness everyday. We had a chance to use the spa services that were so outstanding we returned, touring with Padre through the historia of the Convento, enjoying five star bar and soon to be Michelin rated restaurant, and the enjoyment of just relaxing overlooking the coast amongst the most incredible hotels in the world. There were too many staff members to name that were helpful from the very beginning. There were examples like Marzia who gave us excellent information regarding how to experience Ravello or Eugenio teaching our daughter Italiano. We had one of the best nights of our life at the restaurant. The wait staff in the restaurant from breakfast to dinner are some of the best at making you feel completely comfortable and without a want or need. It was very incredible to stay there. I would recommend at least four nights to get to enjoy Anantara amenities and actually enjoy the hotel. I don’t think this is a place you want to stay for just a couple nights and it is a great location for all the great sites. We stayed an entire week and would’ve stayed another week if we didn’t have other travel plans to visit my famiglia. It was the most incredible hotels we’ve been to across our world travels. Anantara is beyond five stars, it’s an experience of a life time. When life gives you lemons at Anantara Amalfi, just taste the delicious and divine flavor of it!
