Built in 1886 as the showplace of a cattle baron, The Driskill remains a landmark of legendary Texas hospitality. Located in downtown Austin, The Driskill is convenient to all that the city has to offer, including the convention center, opera, symphony, fine dining and shopping. Known as the "live music capital of the world," Austin is home to more than 100 music venues, many within walking distance.

I could not have more more pleased with every aspect of this hotel. It is spectacularly beautiful and well maintained. The staff is super friendly and responsive. The food and beverage in both the 1886 coffee shop and the bar area was fantastic. The Christmas decorations themselves warranted a visit!

I stayed in an accessible queen bed room. I wasn't impressed. Based on the price and history of the building I was expecting something close to a 4 star and above quality of a room. I'm not sure if we stayed in the older part of the hotel, but it was at best a 2.5. The entire bathroom including the roll in shower at best was 70 sq.ft. the rod, and shower curtain were put put together in a cheap way. The rod holding the curtain was hanging from the ceiling in a sloppy manner. Additionally, the bedroom area was rather small. My wheelchair was only accessible to one side of the bed. The desk, windows weren't very accessible, one of the other hotels in the area, Hilton, Marriot are much better quality.

I always appreciate staying in the Driskill, and it never ceases to impress with charm, character and excellence. As someone who grew up in Austin this hotel holds a special place for my husband and I love seeing that it has been well and intentionally maintained, and all of the considerations that have been made to ensure that it remains a unique and unparalleled experience for those traveling or staycationing in Austin. The bakery and bar are phenomenal, and the rooms have great character and are well maintained and appointed.

The Driskoll is a historic charm in the heart of Austin. The hotel is majestic and comforting. The paintings, murals and art showcase the southern folklore of Texas, both the political events and local culture. I you don't stay in the hotel, take a tour and see first hand the elegance and beauty of this landmark.

Classic hotel with exceptional service. We live in Austin and treat ourselves to this historic hotel when we want to stay downtown. If you go, do the history tour. Enjoy a drink at the iconic bar. A great way to enjoy Austin. Centrally located
