Built in 1886 as the showplace of a cattle baron, The Driskill remains a landmark of legendary Texas hospitality. Located in downtown Austin, The Driskill is convenient to all that the city has to offer, including the convention center, opera, symphony, fine dining and shopping. Known as the "live music capital of the world," Austin is home to more than 100 music venues, many within walking distance.

I arrived this afternoon for two nights for business. After just a few hours, this place is in such rough shape that I told the desk I am leaving a night early. Do yourself a favor and stay away until it lands. The walls here are **paper** thin. For the past two hours, I have heard nothing but the constant drone of carpet cleaners in my ear, as I tried to work in my room. It’s been impossible to concentrate. I just called, and we apparently have another hour or more to go. On Sunday night of Easter Weekend. When I want to be in bed very early for meetings. There’s no water for hours tomorrow, which you don’t learn about until on check-in. There’s a deal with a local Gold’s if you want a gym. Everything else is under construction. My hotels make efforts to alert guests to the chaos of renovations. I love classic hotels - the Palace in San Francisco is one of the best. I have no idea what is happening here with the Driskill, but would recommend you stay away until it lands.

An absolutely stunning property. The history of the hotel is incredibly interesting. Staff could not do enough to ensure guests are having the most wonderful time. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. The bar was unfortunately closed when I stayed there but the lobby cafe and bar was a great spot to have a drink or meal.

We stayed in a beautiful room with a balcony. The amenities were rare: fluffy robes; comfortable bed; plush towels; and an actual bathtub! The staff were wonderfully kind and accommodating. The drinks were excellent and breakfast was delicious. Truly excellent service and kindness at every turn.

Such a beautiful atmosphere located in the heart of Austin. This historic building is a must see! The rooms are extremely comfortable. There was a love seat located at the foot of the bed that made sitting in a hotel room feel very roomy and comfortable. The staff are professional, knowledgeable, kind, and an absolute pleasure to interact with. There is not one bad thing I can say about this place. There are so many fun activities to participate in located within walking distance of the hotel.

We enjoyed High Tea at the Driskill Sunday afternoon, March 16. The experience was lovely. Tea is served in 3 courses, scone and lemon poppyseed cakes with fruit and oolong tea; savory with black tea and desserts with an herbal tea. Champagne or sparkling juice. Beautifully presented. Delicious. Yes, it is a “splurge.” One my daughter-in-law and I enjoyed!
