Reviews for The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa

Luxury without pretension

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This is a wonderful place, with a lot of old world charm. The hotel offers luxury without being in the slightest pretentious, friendliness with professionalism and high quality service throughout. The dinner we had in the restaurant was superb, and the massage in the Spa was one of the best I have ever had.

Tired and needs some TLC - Good Food & Staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We decided to take a couple of days away and had enjoyed bath a few years ago. We chose the Royal Crescent as we had seen it on our previous visit and thought it looked good. We knew it was going to be on the higher price bracket, and the website looked good, unfortunately we were rather disappointed when we arrived, as it is rather 'tired' in it's decor and the atmosphere was a bit lacking. We are used to staying in higher priced hotels, and know what we like and expect. Unfortunately this is not worth the high room rate it demands. The staff, on the other hand, were delightful, friendly and attentive, which made up for the disappointing first impression. We had to wait for our room, and decided we would have a light lunch before going into Bath centre to shop. A very unexciting and limited bar menu (not light on price!) was offered and we were rather unimpressed with the lack of value for money. the food was good, but overpriced for what we had. It got worse when we were shown our junior suit - we had hoped for a view of the town, but ended up at the back of the hotel, tucked away in the gardens. The room was nice, but, again a bit 'tired'. Pros: spacious with a comfortable bed and relaxed seating in the sitting room. The shower was good in the rather 'snug' bathroom. Cons: The radiator in the bedroom made so much noise we had to turn up the TV! Obviously a known problem, as there was a plug- in heater for use at night!! You could not have slept with the noise. The non feather pillows (we have allergies) were very thin and uncomfortable (We have experienced this in other high end hotels - why you get sub standard pillows at that high end I have no idea!!) All in all, we didn't feel it was worth over £600 a night. Another plus though, was the food was excellent - beautifully presented, and very good quality. We thought it was good value for a five star dining experience. Again, the staff were excellent. Breakfast was very good. We have enjoyed our stay, but don't feel it was value for money for the accommodation. We read some more hotels reviews of 5 star Bath hotels, and it appears that the relevant 'competition' are suffering from a similar 'tired' problem.

Fabulous stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We have recently stayed twice at the hotel and each time it has been fabulous. My daughter has been on crutches and the staff have gone above and beyond to help us in every way. The concierge have been amazing, helping me with my car and making sure it was on hand each time we needed it. Reception were so helpful with both of the bookings and we have throughly enjoyed our time here, thank you. Can't wait to return!

Fantastic hotel for our first family break!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This was our first family break and we could not have asked for a better experience when travelling with a 6 month old! The staff were brilliant with us, the room was kitted out with nappy bin, changing mat, a little bath robe, a bottle warmer, and a bath and shampoo set for our 6 month old. We were blown away by all the little details that were thought about. My only issue would be the use of the spa facilities with a baby. The hotel are such a family friend hotel, but as soon as you step in to the spa, the spa staff are more worried about their members rather than the hotel guests. We only wanted a 30 minute swim at 7.30am with our daughter! But that didn't ruin a fantastic stay, and thank you to all the staff that made our time so enjoyable

Delightful stay! 5-Star service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

A truly excellent stay at a picture-book hotel. The service was excellent from start to finish - even down to little but oh so welcoming details such as the concierge knowing our names as we arrived in our car. The food was delicious too. During our stay we had afternoon tea - as good as I've had anywhere, with a great choice of sandwiches and cakes, all replenished as we wished. We also ate in the Restaurant and had a superb meal. The Maitre'd who waited on us was charming I can't recommend the Royal Crescent Hotel highly enough, and will definitely visit again.
