Great higher-end hotel strategically located in Bern

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Great hotel and terrific service. This is among the top luxury hotels in Bern with a great location (6-10 minute walk from train station and just 2-3 blocks from the old city area). It’s a bit pricey relative to other options in Bern, but the price differential is worth it if you prefer higher end hotels. The hotel staff is terrific / very friendly. There’s a great bar off to the side of the lobby. One warning - like many European hotels, there is no air conditioning. I was visiting in January and thought I’d be ok, but it was hard to turn the heat down and I had to open the windows at night.

Christmas Stay 2025

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Beautiful hotel and staff for our stay at Christmas. We were away for Christmas and this hotel got us in for a beautiful fine dining Christmas lunch. All staff at breakfast, dinner and lunch were incredible and the room was stunning. location is very central to everything in Bern and we had no complaints. It is an expensive hotel but you get what you pay for. There may be better value options but they wouldn't come with the service and experience that this hotel provides.

Reservation from the hotel site is NOT acceptable.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I have reserved this hotel but I need to post my ridiculous experience even before visiting this hotel. They sent me a confirmation in German. Since I booked the price with "Free cancellation up to 12:00 PM 1 day before arrival", I need to control my booking in case I add services or Cancellation. From the e-mail, I clicked “Meine Reservierung” button and found it does not launch my existing reservation. I sent e-mails to reservation@bellevue-palace.ch requesting my existing reservation and thought they would contact me. For my three requests they have ignored my request and from the website, it lacks service contact. I finally sent the cancellation request as I do not have any trust of the current management. I can see their service these days and will select another one as there are many more hotels there.

Elegant time in an historic building

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We were 5 days in Bern to spend New Year’s Eve and we consider that we chose the best accommodation option in this city. The position of the hotel is excellent, close to the points of interest and the shops area and offers a wonderful view of the Alps from the hotel terrace and from the room (we even had professional binoculars in the room which I found very original and funny). The decorations gave a very elegant touch to the hotel, it was a great pleasure to spend a lot of time in the lobby and in the restaurant, even if this is not our style… I saw also people coming in from the street to photograph themselves with the gorgeous Christmas tree in the lobby or with the fairy tale arrangement at the entrance to the hotel! Staff from all the hotel departments were extremely friendly and helpful when needed. For example, the first room had two walls outside and it was colder, but the reception staff immediately found another room exactly to our needs and we moved. A minor observation would be better communication between the reservation department, reception and restaurant… we had a package that included breakfast and New Year's dinner but, in the restaurant, they didn't have this information. Everything was solved after checking the information in the reception. Very good quality of sleep: quiet in the room, cushions and mattress very comfortable. We will definitely return!
