Charles Hotel

My daughter and I stayed here for one night to be close to my husband who was having surgery at Mount Auburn Hospital down the road. The hotel was a calm respite during a stressful time. I am so glad we stayed here because there were a bunch of small ways the staff helped us out. The server at Henrietta's table helped get us going when the call came that we needed to be at the hospital and the valet service was super quick both times I used it. The front desk made it easy for me to leave, while letting my daughter do final check out while I ran to the hospital early. Later check out is available if you are an Iprefer member, which was easy to sign up for before my registration. The room was quiet, despite being so close to Harvard Square. It had homey touches including bespoke teas and an extra blanket. I was able to have camomille and wrap up in the robe and blanket in the gorgeous leather chair with a book in the afternoon. And the food at Henrietta's Table was simply scrumptious - we ate there for afternoon, dinner and breakfast!

This hotel has continued to go downhill for the last 6 years or more. The staff presents as either clueless or unaccountable. Room service menu weird so even though I was sick one night I couldn’t find anything simple to eat. No maid service. Next time I will go elsewhere.

Overall, it is a great hotel, fantastic location, and attentive staff. The rooms are well appointed and my kids loved the bathroom mirror TV. My only complaint is that there was a bit of an odd odor in the lobby and hallways when we arrived. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant, and the staff went out of their way to remake my 7-year-old's pancakes after he ordered incorrectly.

Ideal location with excellent facilities and service. We spent Christmas together at the hotel It was ideal. Amazing gym! Loved Noir for cocktails. Big suite at a reasonable price. Easy parking. Although car wasn't needed since there's a lot of places to walk.

This is an excellent hotel - it is charming, the beds are comfortable and the staff friendly. Recommend. I would avoid a room on the 10th floor as the hotel mechanics sit under the roof there and as a result there was a load fan noise in my room that could not be fixed - I had to move rooms.
