We loved this hotel. Our room was well appointed and comfortable, the hotel has all the usual amenities plus some! The hotel has a part time resident Alpaca Panchita and her lovely minder Kelly who are always ready for a photo op. The bar has great pisco sours. The hotel offers historic tours of this storied property. But best of all is the service. When the staff learned that Inca Rail’s 11th hour cancellation without cause of our booking deprived us of our opportunity to see Machu Picchu, the staff showed extraordinary kindness and empathy, trying to make up for our disappointment. Special shout out to Daniela, Yenifer, Ricardo, and Benedict for kind and attentive service.

Beautiful hotel in a converted convent (as its name hints). They advertised "oxygen enriched" rooms, but we did not feel any improvement. We slept poorly (headache, heavy breathing) due to the altitude of 11,000 ft. The buffet breakfast was good and generous.

We just returned back from our trip to Cusco. We stayed at the JWM,El Convento Cusco for 6 nights in a double bedroom facing the courtyard on the third floor. Highlights: -First off, the staff are helpful, kind, attentive, smiling and always professional in every department. -Lovely hotel, beautifully appointed in a convenient location in Cusco -Easy walk to main attractions like Plaza Mayor, San Peadro market, Centro Historico De Cusco etc. -Restaurants and shops are just steps away! The area felt very safe even for exploring late into the evening as well. -The hotel's convent style architecture is very nice, interior design blends modern luxury with traditional Peruvian charm and the outside space is just perfect to hang out or wait for your tour operators to pick you up. -Very nice lobby and the rooms were spacious with comfortable beds. -The hotel Courtyard is stunning and is a great place to enjoy your breakfast or have coffee, read a book, or take pictures, or for kids to play. -Hotel is located just 20mins.away from the Cusco airport in a car. What we loved? -Hotel offerings that included a range of complimentary activities like cooking classes, cookie decoration, harmonize your energy, whispers of the harp and many others. -Tour of the historic convent. The hotel offers a tour that tells the history of the hotel and how the hotel was reconstructed(16th century convent carefully restored). -Selfie with Alpaca. This is by far the most popular activity. You get to take selfie with the Alpaca(Panchita) visiting the hotel every week(Tuesday through Sunday). -The buffet breakfast food selection was very good and delicious. -Access to a heated relaxing pool, hot tub, eucalyptus steam room and dry sauna. The pool area is quiet, soothing music is played in the background, fresh towels and lots of relaxing chairs are available, apples are stocked for snacking, flavored water and herbal tea is available at all times. Oh, not to forget chromotherapy(showers with various water jets). Perfect place to relax after each day of sightseeing. -Running/walking in the neighborhood is a unique experience. There are so many streets you can explore in the neighborhood. Don't forget to take your camera. Every street offers several photo opportunities. Every person we met seemed to genuinely care if we were enjoying our stay. While everyone was most helpful, special thanks to the following: 1.Celeste is not only friendly but also impressively prompt whenever we had a question or a request. Whether it was a quick inquiry at the front desk or a need for extra amenities, her response was fast and efficient, making the experience smooth and stress-free. Thank you very much Celeste for everything! 2.Alejandro and Fiorela- incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. They were always ready with a smile and a helpful answer to any questions we had, no matter how small. 3.Marcello- kids just loved your ginger bread cookie decoration session. You made it so much fun and easy for them while they created their own special cookie masterpieces. Thank you! 4.Phol and Jesus made our check-in process quick and seamless. Phol, we enjoyed the hotel tour with you(I am sure it was you that was dressed as a monk?).You took us around the hotel to explain the history of the building. Fantastic job showing some of the original features of the building now preserved in special exhibition rooms. 5.Yenifer and Freddy at the restaurant for their ability to deliver exceptional customer service, always with a smile. Very much appreciated! 6.William,Jose, Daniel, and Oscar for their friendly and efficient services at the restaurant. Always so polite and helpful, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. 7.Sebastain for his great guest service. I just pointed out that we had some faulty power adapters in the room. Within less than a minute, Sebastian handed me a few working adapters. Great example of catering to individual guest needs swiftly. 8.Bertha for taking care of our housekeeping needs. Wonderful job and thank you! 9.Nicole and Fernando from the management team for their energy and personal touch. They called and even met with me to check if everything was going well. Thank you! Tips: -Register ahead of time for the hotel offered experiences/activities. -Altitude sickness is real! Allow your body to get accustomed for a couple days and you should do just fine after that. Do half day tours first couple days before taking on any adventure trips. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate and use ibuprofen for headache. -Book a courtyard facing room, if available. -If you like running/walking outdoors, and want to connect with nature, explore the cobblestone streets of Cusco early in the morning. It is magical! Enjoy your workout. -Taxi's are a great way to get around(if needed). It is safe! Talk to the doormen and they will set you up with a Taxi. Overall we were very happy and satisfied with our stay and would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a unique or memorable stay in Cusco. Thank you JW team for making our vacation incredible.

I wouldn't recommend to stay here unless you pay extra for window rooms. Pros - Hotel Location is perfect, Close from City center, Train station, restaurants etc .. Cons - first 2 options of rooms are facing inca wall which might be beautiful to look at and expensive but there is no good ventilation and air conditioning. Due to which we had sleepless nights, difficulties breathing, sweating (Note: we did not have issues when we were out in the city or even lobby). There were nights i panicked not able to breath and couldnt sleep at all. Most of their rooms are underground and I am sure there is problem only in these 2 levels. If you really decide and don't mind spending additional money just for location, choose the rooms with windows. There are other great hotels near with windows and ventilation!

We stayed in this hotel for one night only. The lobby and the courtyard are breathtakingly beautiful. On the same level as spa they have an exhibition of the ruins. The spa was great! With very warm swimming pool, sauna and steam room. Very modern and cozy. The only reason for 4 stars is that the water in the shower was either scolding hot or cold. It was a real issue. Also the rooms didn’t have main lights, only lamps and the room was pretty dark. Some people might not mind it. The buffet was pretty solid considering how big and busy is the hotel. They invited alpaca, a singer and Santa for Christmas and made everything very festive.

One of the best hotels I've ever experienced. A hidden treasure blended with beauty and luxury with a modern lifestyle touch, tucked away in a city rich in culture.

Of the many fine attributes of the JW Marriott Cusco, the blending of historical architecture with modern comforts and high design is most unusual and perfectly executed. From the soft lighting to the rich dark woods and stone in the public areas, the understated atmosphere distinguishes itself as belonging uniquely to the Cusco property. And that holds true all the way to the lower levels where the lovely spa is intimately nestled. Not only was the staff properly warm, friendly and bi-lingual, but equally important highly skilled at their duties (which is surprisingly not always the case in fine hotels).
