The Caledonian Edinburgh, Curio Collection by Hilton

My heart sank when I arrived at the hotel and was informed that renovations which have been taking place for already 6 months meant that the spa was only accessible by walking 100 metres on the street outside and the requirement to ring a bell to get in the side entrance to the spa. So my plans for a morning dip walking in my dressing gown was out of the question. I am pretty disappointed that the hotel does not make this first and foremost for clients booking , as I had only booked due to the pool . A duty manager tried to offer a sweetener of a refurnished room (once we had unpacked ) so to be honest was more trouble than it was worth, so decided against it,. Personally I would avoid this hotel if you want to use the spa until refurbishments are completed. The room we had on the 5th floor was small and lacking in drawer space for t shirts, jumpers etc and the only drawer was one was in a corner and could be opened only partially due to the bedside table. For a supposedly 5 star hotel I found it quite uninspiring and disappointing. The bathroom was large but it only had a shower over the bath. When I did get to the spa in a winter coat, rather than dressing gown, I saw that the. Internal spa steps looked dirty, and this is somewhere which clients are expected to be bare footed. Clearly in the refurbishments standards have dropped. On the positive it is well located to be able to walk to the castle and Royal Mile. That is about the only positive. Overall I I would not stay here again, and for the cost I would suggest looking elsewhere to stay.

Wonderful Hotel. Just returned from a 3 day visit (15th Jan) From the 2 gentlemen at the front of the Hotel entrance who took out suitcases, to the lovely receptionist Chloe who checked us in and spoke to us every morning. We had a fantastic time and the staff really made our visit special (70th birthday) Breakfasts were really good and our room was large with lovely views into Princess St. We both will definitely be returning later this year for some more luxury down time. Absolutely beautiful building, with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant food and service were amazing and the breakfast set me up for full on days. The views of the castle are breath-taking. Would highly recommend to all.

The most memorable anniversary we’ve had to date! We were made to feel so special and the dedication from the staff was absolutely amazing, this place feels like a home from home! I really mean it, I couldn’t I recommend this place enough! You just have to experience it for yourself!

The hotel is stunning, the rooms are comfortable, and the location is perfect for exploring the city. However, what truly made our stay unforgettable was the exceptional service. A special shoutout to Lucas and Nittin at the bar. Their friendliness, honesty, and helpfulness were beyond exceptional. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, offered great recommendations, and truly thought along with us. Their attention to detail and personal approach made all the difference. Thanks to them and the entire hotel team, we leave with big smiles and wonderful memories. We highly recommend this hotel and hope to return in the future. Thank you for the fantastic experience!
