About the Hotel

Located off the west coast of Scotland is a private 300-acre retreat called Isle of Eriska Hotel, Spa & Golf. Built as a home in 1884 in the Scottish Barional style, this singular hotel on the island houses just 50 guests and is steeped in history. While the building has had a succession of owners and enhancements over the course of its lifetime, it has changed very little with age. The rooms are capsules of luxury adorned with tasteful appointments and regal bursts of color. In the main house, a former billiard room and courtyard have transitioned into a pair of spacious bedrooms, while the addition of a conservatory has enhanced the overall ambiance. A nearby annex is surrounded by lush foliage and features spa suites as well as two-bedroom cottage suites offering some serious seclusion with private gardens and bubbling hot tubs.

Reviews for Isle of Eriska Hotel, Spa & Island

Fantastic winter short break

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

I should have written this review much sooner. Had a fantastic long weekend here on a great winter deal staying in a Hilltop lodge and enjoying breakfast and dinner in the main hotel. It really was absolutely fantastic. Lodges are excellent and spacious whilst being cosy, food is top notch, service is great, pool/spa area brilliant. Really could not fault anything - one tiny bit of feedback was that I thought plastic glasses should be provided in the lodges for use in hot tub (for safety reasons). A minor issue with hot water whilst there was quickly sorted out by friendly and helpful GM Rob. Definitely planning to go back and 100% recommend.

Amazing place to visit.

Fabulous location, room was beautiful. Staff were amazing and very attentive. We had our two year old with us and they were all very accommodating and kind with her. I'd highly recommend the hot stone massage, Nicola was fabulous. Best massage I've ever experienced. We were lucky enough to see the otter, wild deer and a sea eagle!

Excellent two night stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Beautiful location and grounds, walk around the island well worth it, take your time and enjoy the great views, saw red squirrels and deer. Looked out for otters but no joy. Make sure you walk to the highest point for the views. Best use wellies(available at hotel) or walking boots. Our room was spacious, peaceful and with a comfy big bed, B&O music streamer a nice touch. Antique wardrobe and drawers a bit knackered but part of the character I suppose. Lovely open fire and very comfortable lounge and bar areas. Foodwise main restaurant closed for kitchen refurb, so we ate at the Deck. Great views at breakfast time. Breakfast was good but not 5 star. Tea good, coffee average. Granola needs improvement totally lacking imagination. If the chef needs some ideas take a trip to the Black Bull in Sedbergh and see what a quality breakfast is! We had dinner twice, the first meal was good 4 out of 5, the second meal was truly excellent 5 out of 5. We had a nice relaxing swim and Jacuzzi in the Spa. Service provided by all staff was excellent. This is not a cheap hotel, think part of the cost is the premium for the peaceful island location, excellent service and the wonderful House. All in all we had a lovely stay hence the 5 out of 5 overall.

As most reviews say this is a beautiful place ! Buildings , the rooms and the island absolutely beautiful… But! Food was a little disappointing. We had booked afternoon tea which was put on the table and our backsides were hardly sat down! It consisted of the most basic of sandwiches 4 scones and some cut up cakes which I’m sure we got served for dessert that night and at £40 a head you can’t do that! No French pastries no sausage rolls!!! Very basic ! Oh and one cup of cold coffee no pot in sight. That night had to have our fine dining dinner in the deck restaurant because of some work being done in the main restaurant but there was no mention of this when booking. So a bit disappointed with that. Need to let people know about these things. We had our 3 course fine dining dinner in under an hour and it was just ok and expensive…don’t know what the hurry was🤷🏻‍♀️ then at breakfast we waited ages for our food it was quite a nice breakfast though. If the restaurant and food side was just a bit more polished and tweaked it could be fabulous and it would justify the prices and 5 stars for me but sadly it wasn’t…

Awful, disappointing experience ran by frauds! Avoid at all costs

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

As others have mentioned, the hotel whilst described as a ‘five star- small luxury hotel’, it is anything but. We stayed in Arnotts House- described as self-catered accommodation with beach front access. The house does not have beach front access and is not suitable for people with walking difficulties- it is a 20 minute walk to the main hotel and there is no easy route there. The house did not have simple amenities such as a washing machine and the hotel then tried to charge us for washing services (to which we were limited to 1- with a 2 day turnaround). There were no disposal bins so we had a weeks worth of rubbish collated at the side of the house- encouraging all sorts of vermin! As well as this the house was described as having a hot tub- IT DOES NOT! They also tried to charge us an additional £200 cleaning fee for having dogs with us- which was not on the Airbnb listing we booked through. The general disrepair of the house was awful- leaking freezer, broken windows and sporadic WiFi. The spa and gym were under construction which we were not informed about, and no compensation was offered. Avoid at all costs!
