Our experience was all good. A courteous and efficient check in. The most beautiful opulent decor throughout the hotel. The terrace cafe with its stunning views of the city and snow capped mountains lived up to expectations. Yes it is quite expensive, but well worth the treat in our opinion. We found the breakfast buffet to be good, with a varied selection and attentive staff. Location could not be better for visiting the Alhambra. The Gate of Justice entrance is only a 4 minute woodland stroll away. Tip: if possible book your official tickets well in advance online for an easy and stress free visit. The Carmen de los Martires is even closer to the hotel. A peaceful and relaxing garden. Free entry (check opening times). Easy downhill walk into the town. There are always buses and taxis available just outside hotel if you prefer. Overall a special and memorable 2 night stay.

There must be two different Alhambra Palace Hotels. The reviews are either 5 star or 2-3 stars. Before writing this, I objectively reviewed many of the other reviews. The common thread is that the majority the 2-3 ratings were answered by management saying they strive to be better and sorry but please come again. However, the hotel has had a year to improve, but comments now are the same as last year. Efficient staff at check in and we knew what we signed up for: a 5 star hotel in a premium location at the base of La Alhambra; therefore expect to pay a premium. Our room was an updated room overlooking the back of hotel and based on reviews of the view rooms, glad we never stayed there. Our room was adequate but not 5 star. A half-pencil for making notes ? Indeed! This Hotel is drinking their own Kool-aid as to a 5 star status in today's world. 2 comments as to food and drink. The pricing of the bottle of Cava that we had arranged to be in the room at check-in. It was not here but arrived after; fair enough and not really a problem- 3rd world as one guest said. However to be charged 29 euro for an <8 euro bottle of everyday pedestrian Cava is simply gouging. If you are a 5 star establishment then show it. Secondly, as many others have stated, the buffet breakfast was poor, and a 1 star attempt in my humble view. Cold to warm eggs, Luke warm everything, standard hotel food quality- and as buffet there really was no service attached to the meal. Not memorable. Not fitting for a 5 star establishment. I'd suggest senior staff visit other 5 star hotels and see how they compare. In keeping with the theme of value, we did have the Concierge staff arrange a ticket into La Alhambra at late notice. and thankful for that as we won't be back. As all entry tickets were sold out, they still somehow managed to get 2 tickets, but with a tour guide. The 2 person price was quoted as 381 euro (weekend rate)- but this was stated in Hotel lobby book with a range of ~30-170 euro per person. However as tour was rescheduled to Monday the rates were stated (In lobby book to be significantly less). Inquiring as to the current price on Monday, the Hotel maintained that was the price. 381e- no discussion. (that's for a 1.5 hr tour equals to 254 e per hour for guide including standard entry ticket). In line with charge for Cava and the expensive Alhambra ticket, it appears that Hotel knows that have captive market of once in a lifetime clients so prepare to be charged accordingly. I cannot think why one would recommend this establishment to fellow travellers. We have spent a month travelling throughout Andalusia and this event at your hotel represents quite simply the worst value for service.... and the worst slight will be the expected comments, again, that "we strive to improve our service and value to ur clients and please come again". Respectfully submitted. EAG

The lobby is beautiful and a very clean, well kept hotel, great view. But be prepared to pay at least double for everything compared to what is just down the hill. Not accommodating or too helpful. Room was not as presented on the web site nor the perks for direct booking. Don’t even ask for a late check out. Probably would stay down the hill near downtown next time and still can walk up for the Alhambra tour. The atmosphere and vibe was so interesting, not bad really , just felt like I was in a White Lotus episode.

There are no facilities at this hotel apart from the central foyer and bar. A lot of the hotel seems to be closed. For example the main restaurant was closed for renovation plus the famous balcony with views across Granada was also closed. Our room was nice but not 5 star, considering the price I paid. Also, I was charged a sizeable amount more than the price quoted , with no explanation or reasons given. They just took it from my credit card without my approval. I was there 2 nights yet by room wasn’t cleaned or made up after the first night- which meant I had to ask for things like water and tea bags to be replenished. The staff were arrogant and aloof. We had dinner at the hotel and I would say it was the worst meal I have ever eaten. I had a pasta dish, which apart from the fact that there were only 5 pieces of tasteless pasta, it was cold and covered with tomato sauce from a bottle. My partner had chicken and chips. That was it. A high prices for a bit of chicken and chips - no sauce to speak of. Frankly I think this hotel is fixed in the past and they seem to think they can charge high prices just because of its history. You are paying for snob value - nothing more.

This is a very good hotel in a great location walking distance from the Alhambra. The staff are exceptionally helpful and the terrace has beautiful views over the city and across to the Sierra Nevada. Rooms have a good view and are very comfortable. Only negative breakfast and bar prices are extortionate!
