Stranded on island oasis with ocean swells that rise with the tide, Alila Villas Hadahaa is a rapturous Maldives retreat situated in the North Huvadhoo Atoll. The visionaries of this eco-friendly resort raised the bar by preserving the surrounding vegetation, using natural timber and leaving as little environmental footprint as possible - making Alila Villas Hadahaa the first Maldivian resort to comply with the Green Globe standards. When it comes to the 50 exquisite villas, the lines are blurred between interiors and exteriors by uniting the two in design, with the ocean lapping up to the edge of your private deck. Additional appointments such as private pools, living areas and personal gardens complete the picture.

The attention, service and warmth of the team was excellent. There was enough space to feel private, yet within walking distance to each main experience. The reefs were healthy, we saw a good range of sea creatures and Benny the Turtle was adorable and very friendly. Both the views and experience from the water and land villas were memorable.

Mixed review for us (couple with two kids). The island is lovely and private for the Park Hyatt of course. The dining options are reasonable and the staff quality is generally good (very responsive butler). The real highlight was the diving which we did via scuba and snorkelling. Absolutely superb corals and wildlife. The dive instructor was excellent too. Villa was not old but not new, not especially amazing (two bed with pool onshore). Kids club was woeful and managed by a lazy woman who was often not around. Getting there is painful, domestic flight from Male then 30min boat transfer and considerable waiting times. Disastrous big game fishing trip but the hotel apologised and compensated. Overall we enjoyed ourselves but would not go back.

Kindness is priceless! Best Hotel I ever stayed in, thank you for everything! The experience made on Hadahaa was fabulous, food, drinks, service, reef… everyone on the island made our stay amazing, especially Eid our german host and all the other from the Park Hyatt Team!

There is so much to like about this resort - though I nearly deducted a star for the overcharging which really is over the top, even for a place like this. Pros: Transfers - managed by the resort and relatively seamless, there is some unavoidable waiting, but the boat to the resort is fast and fun! Hosts - you can communicate with your host via an app, she was great and very responsive. Staff/Service - on the whole, excellent. It's impossible to call out a single staff member, because they were all so thoughtful and kind. Size - We were told the resort was quite full, however it never felt this way at all. It was unusual to pass someone else when out snorkeling. Meal times were relaxed and never felt crowded or rushed. Rooms - Our overwater villa was magnificent, easily big enough for our family of four, spacious, beautiful, well cool. Being able to dip straight into the reef was sublime. The bedding was comfortable. Water pressure was plentiful and it was hot enough. I really like the sliding wooden blinds, they kept the hot sun our very effectively. Food - quality of the food is good to great. The menu has a decent variety and it's all well prepared and quite speedy in delivery. The cocktails at the beach are also excellent. I especially liked the earl grey whiskey sour. Gym - The fitness centre is filled with newish equipment and is decently cooled. I was able to use the treadmill and free weights during our stay. Reef - This is a very good house reef, with large volumes of fish and many healthy corals. If you like snorkelling, you would be hardpressed to find better. You can also regularly see dolphins cruising past and if you're lucky like me, you may catch a glimpse of a pod when you're in the water! Diving - I want to especially call out the dive centre after reading another review here. I am an experienced diver with over 250 dives, my 13 year old daughter and I completed 7 dives with the dive center with four different DMs: Tony, Dani, Ahmed and I think Ali (?) for the shark dive. I had ZERO concerns with safety, experience, or capabilities with this group. Every DM showed experience, followed proper procedures (except Ali, turning my valve 1/4 way off; it's 2025, you don't need to do that any more and you should not touch another person's tank without permission). All safety procedures were followed to the letter, on all dives (which were stunning by the way, you won't get better visibility any where else in the world, the coral in this atoll is very healthy, fish populations are good. It's simply wonderful diving full stop.). You can dive or get certified with this dive centre with 100% confidence. I also want to be clear: A diver's personal safety is *their own* responsibility. If you are so inexperienced that you cannot control your buoyancy in calm atoll waters and don't know basic hand signals, you have no business diving. Cons: Only one, but it's a biggie: Price. The Maldives is expensive, the remote atolls especially so - but even so the pricing at this Park Hyatt was simply outrageous, and when you pay so *so* much to stay there, the constant overcharging is exhausting. Some examples: - $14 USD for a heineken from the room fridge - $6 USD for a can of coke - $35 USD for a toasted ham and cheese sandwich with chips - $36 USD for a cocktail - $220 USD (!) for the buffet night (it was a nice buffet but holy moley, I've paid less for two michelin stars) It was especially galling to get a receipt with a nice big empty box for a "Tip." Firstly, a 10% "Service Charge" is automatically added to every bill, what's the service charge for if you're asking for a tip? Secondly, if you're so concerned for staff, pay them more from the huge margins you've added to food and drink. The hotel will say that the southern atolls are remote, and that getting supplies there is expensive - all true, but I stayed at NH Collection Resort in the same atoll last year and some of these things were *half* the price. Do note: this pricing strategy extends to the dive centre, other resort experience and spa, so be prepared, you may find yourself quite easily spending an additional $100USD a day per person on food and drink. A two tank nitrox dive on the boat was over $400 USD. Given this pricing, my suggestions to the hotel would include: Put a fruit bowl in the rooms; *don't charge* for basic soft drink and snacks in the room (I've stayed at much cheaper hotels where everything in the room, including basic alcohol, was all free, it leaves a very nice impression); supply sunscreen in room, around the pool and at the dive center; and finally really look at this pricing for meals etc, it's the only thing that will make me consider a different Maldivian hotel. That all said, this was a truly wonderful holiday, the service was excellent and the standard for everything was high. I already miss the atoll, and wish I could go back every month!

We spend our honeymoon at Park Hyatt Maldives, Hadahaa. It was by far the best vacation we have had. The level of service is out of this world. The team is great (special shout out to Shahum, our dedicated host). The house reef is in great condition. The food is exquisite. Highly recommended.
