Sublime Samana

We stayed two nights at Sublime Samana. The resort is superb with an incredible beach. The rooms are huge with a kitchen. The reason for the 4 stars is that the service and food are below average. The breakfast was poor and we even had to send back waffles which were absolutely terrible. This place could be great with better management.

The Hotel Compound and the rooms were excellent. Large rooms with good A/C. Clean and tidy. Plenty of lounge chairs at the beach. Pristine and wonderful beach with lots of palmtrees. Two seperate pools for adults & families - both clean & nice. The Food however did not live up to that and was quite poor. The dinner was very expensive (230 usd for 5) and subpar. Steak was tiny, overpriced (50 usd) and overcooked, some of the french fries raw and drenched in fat. Undercooked Pasta. Most of the dishes served cold or lukewarm (soup, fish, fries etc.). Portions in general were tiny to a degree that it was somewhat funny. Same applies to breakfast. A la carte choice of a few tiny dishes, but only one of them. One Juice and black Coffee. Anything else was an extra charge - even the Cappucino was not included and we had to pay extra. Pancakes were cold and dry, Potatoes and bacon lukewarm and not very tasty. Keeping in mind that this is a 5 Star Hotel, a Member of the SLH-Group (small luxury hotels of the World) and the according Prices there is a large discrepancy and gap between the excellent Hotel facilities and the poor and overpriced provided Dining/Breakfast with plenty of extra charges. We did not feel any of the alleged world-class style that the Hotel claims about the Dining experience. Sometimes it felt like the chef lacked basic experience and the Food/Beverage Management was more interested in saving/making money instead of providing a 5-Star Hotel Experience. We ended up renting a car only to get to other restaurants in the Area for Dinner and some days skipped breakfast before our day-trips to get some food in Las Terenas at the bakery. Would certainly consider returning to this lovely place at the Beach of Las Terenas - but only if significant changes were made to the above-mentioned issues.

It was a great weekend. The two couples shared an apartment with our private bedrooms and bathrooms, and a lovely balcony. The setting is beautiful and emanates tranquility - we enjoyed a morning outdoor yoga. This is not an all inclusive party resort I'd like to stress that the service was perfect, very attentive without hovering, and the manager, Mr. Silvestri gave us personal attention and made us feel welcomed guests.

Sublime Samana is a paradise jewel. Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic is a gorgeous hotel and residences with great service and outstanding views. Our family and friends had an unforgettable time and the great memories created will carry on for a lifetime. Thank you to all the staff for the amazing service. We will return to Las Terrenas, Sublime Samana soon.

Loved the environment, the service, the people, the climate. Loved everything!!!would recommend this hotel to people who wants to go to relax and have a nice time. Sublime Samana is one of the best places you can go in that part of the Dominican Republic.
