Designer Philippe Starck conceived St Martins Lane London as a surrealist wonderland viewed through the looking glass of classic British eccentric taste. Cheeky and daring with a touch decadent, the lobby and social spaces are signature Starck style. It’s fitting that the hotel is situated in the bustling theatre district in Covent Garden - it is pure drama. Just ask the garden gnomes; this is classic London with a seriously seductive twist. Floor-to-ceiling windows at St Martins Lane pull the cityscape into each guest room, offering a dramatic perspective on the energetic city below. The Tim Andreas of Banjo design rooms evoke a sense of spaciousness and luxury by using a mix of both naturally inspired and modern materials. The overall effect is an ethereal, yet sensuous experience.

Our stay at St. Martin’s Lane was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The problems began even before we arrived. We called the hotel over 20 times to confirm our booking details and high-floor room preference. After finally getting through, we were reassured everything was updated in the system. However, when we arrived, we were shocked to find we had been allocated a room on the second floor, despite our special celebration and all the promises made beforehand. Even worse, someone from the reservations team had confirmed over the phone that they had spoken with a manager and arranged a complimentary upgrade. Instead, we were downgraded. When we tried to address the issue on-site, the female manager we spoke to was rude and unhelpful, trying only to upsell us to a paid upgrade rather than honoring what had been promised. Her attitude made an already bad situation even worse. The room itself was completely outdated, the carpet was dirty and clearly needed replacing, and the overall condition was nowhere near what you would expect from a hotel of this supposed standard. The breakfast experience was also a nightmare — the staff were not professional at all, barely paying attention to guests and offering little to no help. The only positive parts of our stay were the Blind Spot Bar and the bell team, particularly Vesar, who genuinely tried his best to make us feel welcome. Unfortunately, despite his efforts, the overall experience was extremely poor. I will never stay at this hotel again and will make sure to tell everyone I know about how bad it was. I strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to look elsewhere.

Manuel was a lovely waiter! Very friendly, very efficient. Really enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant, food was excellent and came in good time. Can’t fault anything! Will definitely be coming back one day, and would recommend to friends.

Been coming for about 13 years. Recommended to friends who’ve been given free upgrades (I never have). Always paid extra here to have a little space. Decor tired. Staff nice. Wall charger point not functioning. Vegan breakfast only a la carte options really. I’d already paid for breakfast and I think I had to pay more to get something I could eat. Not really waiter service any more. Have to guess what’s going on and asked for vegan margarine and there was none available. They had to go into the kitchen and brought out a huge supermarket pack and cut some off it for me. I felt like the first vegan in history. I did the survey and asked if there was any chance I’d ever get a better deal and some recognition from them. I got offered some full price rooms. I don’t need to make any effort on their behalf if they don’t do anything for me. I’m done .

I stayed on a Saturday night as a company benefit. On my entrance I was greated in a very friendly manner by Rafa and Fontina who took care of my check-in providing full information of my reservation. In the meantime, I was impressed by the decor and stylish lobby. As Fontina noticed my interest in the lobby, she introduced me to Fabio from the Concierge team who gave me a quick show round explaining me the history of the hotel and some hidden features in the tea room and bar area. Due to my company status, I was upgraded to a Superior room. The check-in process was smooth and friendly. My room was super bright and clean with a modern style decoration. I had a casual dinner with colleagues in the restaurant were we enjoyed the refined menu inspired by French cuisine. The restaurant team knowledge and manners were second to none. I recal Victor and Adrian both being great while teaming up with their manager Steven. Adrian was the absolute hero during my stay as he was also in charge of room service on that afternoon. This was delivered at the best of luxury service: professional and courteous. My shame that I had no cash with me so I had no chance for tipping him. The drinks area seems to be the best part of this hotel. We were introduced to a hidden bar behind the curtains that customers would not notice in the lobby. In a stylish cocktail bar full of nice customers my colleagues and I enjoyed cocktails and music by a DJ. Thanks to the experienced gentleman Cleverson for serving us. Although the Saturday night vibes and music, and the room full of floor to ceiling windows, my sleep was excellent and deep. My room was silent and dark enough. As I am a breakfast fan, the one I had on Sunday morning was not disappointing at all. I took a selection from the buffet and ordered eggs Royale which were nothing than perfect. Thanks a lot to Deborah who took my colleague and mine's order explaining us the menu in details and in a very sympathetic way. We felt we were took care by the entire team. I recall Ana and Tetiana who greated us and enjoyed a quick conversation with us. All staff was engaging nice conversations, like the night manager Mohammed and the night supervisor Francko. The only downside of my stay was my regret to have never stayed at St Martins Lane Hotel before. I would definitely recommend staying in this hotel firstly because of the location, just between Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square, also because my sleep was excellent, and last but not least because of the knowleadged and friendly staff.
