A 19th-century beauty meets the London of today: that’s what you’ll find at Kimpton Fitzroy London Hotel. From the outside, the landmark building, which occupies a full block along the eastern side of Russell Square in Bloomsbury, looks every bit the part of grande dame. Inside, though, contemporary interiors beckon the discerning traveler to settle in and stay a while—Negroni (or two) in hand. Live like a Londoner on Russell Square. With one foot in the city’s past and another in its present, our Bloomsbury location combines British creative heritage with modern amenities.Presiding gracefully over Russell Square, with a stylish restaurant, Champagne and afternoon tea lounge, a cafe, destination cocktail bar and gym, our 334-room hotel turns every event into a memorable occasion. With a nod to 20s glamour and British irreverence, such as the Kit Miles cushions depicting our resident dragon, Lucky George, each luxuriously styled bedroom by Tara Bernerd & Partners beautifully reflects the rich history of our iconic hotel. Uniquely Kimpton in-room extras include a mug featuring George the dragon and yoga mat to help you feel at home.

We booked 6 nights at the hotel for a short holiday. Positives: The building is beautiful, inside and out. It's also in a very good location for travelers who prefer the Bloomsbury area - directly on Russell Square, within a block of the Tube station, and walking distance to the British Museum. The staff was friendly and helpful when needed. The room was very small, but the queen bed was quite comfortable, and there was very little noise from outside. We used the in-room safe and small refrigerator every day. Negatives: The bathroom was too small. The shower door skimmed the floor, no clearance whatsoever, so the bath mat got shoved away, or stuck under the door, and the floor was always wet after the shower. We had to sit a bit sideways on the toilet, as the bath tissue holder took up leg room. Housekeeping - the room was cleaned well most days, but the service seemed to come at a different time every day, so throwing off our schedule and that of the staff.

Excellent hotel from check in to check out. Great location in London beside Russell Square station and walking distance to a host of restaurants. Food is also excellent in the hotel. The bar staff were exceptional and so attentive. The room was beautiful and spotless. Second time staying and it did not disappoint again we will definitely be returning. Thank you to all the wonderful staff. I actually mainly took the stairs as it is just such a beautiful feature of the hotel.

We stayed at the Kimpton Fitzroy hotel for eleven nights including Christmas and the New Year day. Thanks to the wonderful London underground system, it was an easy trip from Heathrow airport to the Fitzroy, with the station just behind the hotel. Because of its rich history, profound classic charm, and superb service, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We’d like to specially acknowledge the Concierge team, with special mention of Marco, Joseph, and Rory, who provided excellent recommendations for tea rooms, restaurants, and attractions. They were knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. In other ways they went above and beyond, proving us with tape to wrap gifts for our niece and nephew, and a bag to carry our presents to a family dinner; I had bought a delicate art piece at the Greenwich Market, and they were able to find a box for it so I could carry it on to the plane, making certain it got home undamaged. We also wanted to acknowledge the breakfast crew who took very good care of us; there were a couple of special members who always greeted us with big smiles, asked about our previous day’s activities, and took the time to talk to us about our plans for that day. The doorpersons and porters, especial Jack, were very pleasant and always eager to help. Besides breakfast, we had two dinners in the hotel restaurant. Both meals were delicious and were beautifully presented. Lastly, this review would not be complete if we did not comment on the bar. Marco the concierge told us he would never work at a hotel that didn’t have a great bar; I’m telling you, you can never stay at a hotel with such a great bar and not stop in for a drink or two. The drink menu is beautifully designed and the cocktails are unique in flavor. And it is such a lovely space –come for the drinks, stay for the ambience. In short, we highly recommend Kimpton Fitzroy to anyone who travels to London.

Spent a very enjoyable evening in the bar being entertained by Gregory. After seeing in my 50th Birthday in at midnight, Gregory appeared with 2 little cakes with lit candles. Such a lovely young man, with a great sense of humour. I wish him all the luck in the world.

What a fabulous bar! The bartender Gregory was simply outstanding. A mixologist if there ever was one. Can’t wait to come back! Very knowledgeable about bourbon which I appreciated. Mixes a great cocktail and Greta conversation. Glad to have found this place.
