A contemporary haven nestled in a historical landmark in the center of the capital of gastronomy, InterContinental® Lyon – Hotel Dieu is one of the city’s most emblematic historical landmark buildings, originally dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries and offering contemporary and understated luxury design. Views from the hotel are always stunning, be it on the Rhône river or on our listed historic courtyards. Located on the 1st floor, the hotel’s breath-taking Soufflot Dome, towering 32 metres high, has been one of the greatest private renovations of a classified site in France since 2013. The majestic Dome is the vibrant heart of the hotel, boasting a magnificent bar. Le Dôme bar is one of the highlights of the city for hotel guests and locals alike.

Beautiful historic building for our stay and great location. We ended up in two different rooms and both were small-ish and a bit tired. They looked over the courtyards and tiled roofs (perhaps the older section with not as nice rooms as others have commented on?). The cleaning lady left our room unlocked and door ajar one day - thankfully, nothing seems to have been stolen. We reported it to the reception and concierge and their response was to shrug and say that sometimes the doors don't close. So if you do stay here, make sure you do not leave any valuables lying around. Breakfast was nice except for the coffee which was dreadful (not to NZ standard and no flat whites either! Overall, a solid choice but not a wow experience.

Beautiful luxury hotel located in a stunning historic building on the Rhone River (with a busy street in between). Staff are incredibly well trained, polite, comfortable and helpful (thank you front desk staff Igret & Thomas and crepe-chef Estevan). My wife used IHG points for us to stay here before and after our hike on the Geneva Camino (GR-65) to Le Puy, a treat that we will remember for a long time. Appreciated the Gluten-free corner and fabulous breakfast spread. Public bicycle stations are available outside the hotel

Fantastic stay at this beautiful hotel. Had a wonderful meal Friday night (thank you so much Chef Christopher) at the restaurant, great service from all the staff and excellent ambiance. Breakfasts were also delicious, so much choice, and all the staff ready with a smile and a hot coffee! Room service was excellent, tasty and swift. Made to feel very special during our stay and look forward to coming back!!

The most splendid Intercontinental Hotel Location, architecture, history, interior design, room modernity, and hospitality are stunning ! Having been professionally and friendly welcomed at the front desk check-in by a nice Lyonnaise who informed our rooms will be ready by 3 PM, we went for a late lunch at Les Halles de Lyon, re-confirmed by the Concierge it’s a center of Lyon gastronomy worthy of a visit. Upon return from the lunch, the front desk Lyonnaise gave us a hotel history booklet ( unfortunately only French version available ), and a quick tour of some hotel facilities, briefing us about a long history of the hotel. She then shot a group photo having a prominent Le Dôme bar as a background before taking us to our rooms. We spent 2 nights at this historic landmark and elegant hotel, converted from a hospital. The history of which dated back to the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and the Wars. The rooms are spacious with high ceiling, chic and comfy with bedding set and modern amenities-Byredo in the bathroom is just amazing! On the first night, we went trying a few drinks at Le Dôme-voted Best Hotel Bar in the world, and were not hesitant to visit this magnificent grand dome once again for L’heure du thé before dinner. It was an incredible venue to enjoy pastries, hot drinks, and champagnes. The location is excellent, along the Rhône and near Place Bellecour and Old Lyon. Walking thru the gate of the hotel courtyard, we can find bars, bouchons, shopping streets, and sights. Just one con to mention : the gym is very small and simple.

From check in to check out everything we needed from a hotel on our arrival to France! Very professional check in, they handle everything, whisk your luggage away while you’re seated with a drink and check in. Make dinner reservations, offer Lyon suggestions, make change to smaller € without hesitation & then off to room where valet is ready with luggage (no waiting for it after 24hrs of flights) and he went over room tips. Security is the best of any hotel we’ve stayed in to get to your room. Key on elevator to get to floor, key to open room wing, again to open room section & then your door. Might bother some but I liked it. Location is perfect for exploring. It’s almost a mini-city in itself with surrounding restaurants & shops. Room was very chic & comfortable. Very high ceilings made room seem huge. Great bed, pillows, and quiet. Plenty of towels, good housekeeping when needed. Last morning room service delivered at scheduled time & HOT! 👏🏻 Only con was restaurant, not a great dinner or breakfast experience. We walked before check out to pick up rental car & returned with it, went up to room got luggage, they put it in car gave us waters & driving suggestions & viola we were off in a few minutes checked out. Would return in a heartbeat!
