Carton House, A Fairmont Managed Hotel

Our second stay at Carton house, this time with our two year old. Could not fault the hotel or staff throughout our entire stay. A relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere even with a toddler to keep us busy. Lots of games and activities over easter and we all enjoyed the egg hunt. Very friendly staff and all great with kids.

We had an absolutely amazing time at Carton House. From start to finish, the experience was flawless. The highlight for us was the Sunday lunch at the Morrison Room—hands down the best dining experience I’ve had in years. The room itself is stunning, full of character and elegance, and the staff were so attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Every detail felt considered and special. The grounds are breathtaking, with so much to explore. We loved the red route walk so much that we got up early just to do it again before breakfast—it was the perfect way to start the day. Carton House is a rare mix of luxury, warmth, and nature, and we couldn’t recommend it more.

After a work conference I decided to spend a few days a Carton House to relax before long trip back to California. Luxury at its finest and the staff was very attentive. My Irish friend joined me and we enjoyed and wonderful dinner at the Carriage House restaurant and the meal was fabulous steak grilled to perfection. The next day we had the iconic tea in the drawing room. With magnificent views of the garden. The fare was traditional sandwiches that were very tasty. Then the desserts were absolutely exquisite. They are inspired by iconic guests that have dined there. From Grace Kelly to Mick Jagger. Also, had the pleasure of dining at The Morrison Room after just obtaining the first Michelin Star. Fantastic fare and an amazing star made this experience most memorable. The seasonal fare was right on point with a refreshing springtime dishes. The dish that stands out the most was the crab with cumber and green apples. Fit for a king! Then for the most remarkable part of my stay was the architectural tour by Brain the Les Clefs d'Or concierge. His story telling and character made the tour charming and informative. I will be back and cannot wait to visit again!

we stayed at the Carton House Hotel for an overnight break on the Saturday 8 March. We had arrived later than expected and checked in with the understanding that we would leave our bags at reception, as our weekend fell on an important Six Nation Rugby match - Ireland vs France, and we were keen to get to the carriage bar to watch the match and have lunch. We had a most welcoming and warm greeting from Anna in reception and nothing was a problem –a male member of staff took all our bags to our room, so that all we had to do was relax in the Carriage House Bar knowing our bags were taken care off, and believe me 3 ladies do not travel light even if it was only for one night . The staff in the Carriage bar were so attentive., felt like VIP’s. We had a table reserved and it was as if they had known to put us in front of the telly. Lunch was delicious and we were looking forward to our evening meal as we had booked again for the Carriage House Bar. Our room was excellent – very spacious and well equipped. Beds so comfortable A great nights sleep. The weather was amazing so it was great to have a baloney room. We took a tour of the hotel and I would fully recommend the guided tour, the history of the House & Estate is so intriguing. Our evening meal – we could not fault. The restaurant was very busy and taking this into account the service was excellent. We choose to have a night cap in the Foyer. However my Bailey’s coffee wasn’t to my liking and the waitress had noticed and was happy to remake. I was impressed with her attention and eagerness to assist, clearly looking after guests, I regret not getting her name. Breakfast was different this time – I had previously experience a stay when breakfast was held in the big room. The one complaint regarding the new breakfast set up, was not being able to get a seat in the Kathleen’s Kitchen area and had to be seated out in the foyer, these tables & seatings are low. Breakfast staff were so friendly and accommodating, we had lovely waitress called Isobel. We enjoy a lovely walk around the grounds after breakfast – this is a must for any stay to fully take in the enjoyment of the Estate. On our way to check out, we were greeted with staff walking towards us & offer to take our luggage (this was a lovely gesture) and then they put our bags on a trolley and followed us to the car. Myself and two friends stayed in Carton house in March and we had such a pleasant stay. It's the perfect hotel for a girls trip. We booked the Morrison room which is a must. One of the best meals we've had! There is such a lovely atmosphere in the lounge reception area and the staff were incredible. We will definitely be back!
