W Melbourne with its rebellious Flinders Lane address takes its design cues from the streets of Australia's cultural capital, holding the back-lane entrance keys to what's new/next in the city CBD. Revealing a playground where the early risers to the late-night revellers can turn up the tracks. Extending the laneway culture in, 294 bold hotel rooms and suites peel back the layers and revel in the city's history.

Not the first time I have stayed at the hotel, but property is in continual decline. You are paying for glitzy adverts if staying here and not for a luxurious experience. Far from it: 1. Only one check in counter was open with dozens of arriving guests. Staff seemed very unsure of how to even perform check in and it took 35 minutes before it was our turn. No preferential check in desks or area for Elites (I am Titanium Elite). 2. Shower pressure in this hotel is extremely poor. My colleagues accompanying in other rooms had the same experience. Water literally curves backwards as it leaves the shower head. We have continually fed back on this topic on prior stays. Hotel has ignored every stay and this is reason alone not to return. Stayed at many other hotels across Australia and this one had the worst water flow by far. Not at all up to 5 star standards. 3. Cleanliness is not a topic I typically find an issue at Marriott properties, but at W Melbourne it is. Carpets and corridors are just grubby and were not vacuumed once during our one week stay (see photo). 4. Expect to queue for breakfast in the morning, which is not ideal if you have to get to business meetings. Continual excuse of "full occupancy" given by the staff. Appears the hotel was built with a restaurant size that cannot really cope with more than 50% occupancy. In addition, most breakfast seating is flimsy and on uncomfortable plastic chairs. You would see better at McDonalds. Recommend you ask for a booth table, since these at least have comfortable seating, but fill up fast. 5. Waitress serving us for breakfast on our last day dropped an entire tray of drinks right in front of our table. Those drinks exploded on both me and my colleagues clothes. One of the waitresses then joked we should wear raincoats next time we come for breakfast, at least mopped the floor and then left a giant "caution wet floor" sign right next to our table for us to navigate around with food (see photo). No concern for out wet trousers or offer to dry clean, which we then ended up paying for at the next hotel. 6. Upon checkout, staff asked about my welcome amenity as Titanium. I was surprised and did not know what she meant. Turns out that they forgot to deliver that, too. Overall, fixtures and fittings are wearing out fast at this property, it is not particularly stylish for APAC standards and it has always had lackluster service, as well as long waiting times on any of its services. Choose elsewhere.

Really cool hotel with great facilities and exceptional staff. the hotel is very modern and funky. The beds were incredible, so comfortable I had a great nights sleep. The staff were so responsive and polite, nothing was too much to ask. It was a great stay and I would definitely stay at the W hotel again.

A beautifully appointed hotel with truly excellent service, especially for a business trip, and loads of unexpected little luxuries that made my stay extra special. The W Melbourne will be my go-to place to stay for any future Melbourne visits.

I’ve stayed at many Marriott hotels and this is the first time staying at W Hotel and what an amazing experience from the moment of valet parking. The service was amazing. Casual stroll to reception to check in so smooth everyone smiling and happy and of course arrive at the room and the luggage is there.

A relatively new hotel very well situated in Melbourne. For a "light sleeper", the room was very quiet and well appointed. Service was very friendly. Dinner at Lallo restaurant was very good as well and the breakfast buffet very generous and one of the best ones we have experienced lately.
