The Peabody Memphis is as well known for stupendous service and luxury living as it is for its marching ducks. The 13-story hotel and Memphis landmark opened in 1869 and has been a place of privilege ever since. Part of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, a member of the well-established Preferred Hotel Group, is located just two blocks from famed Beale Street and near the Peabody Place entertainment complex. Its collection of traditional rooms and suites, including pet-friendly accommodations, are elegantly appointed with rich hues and regal furnishings. Residents have a fondness for The Peabody, and the hotel's Memorabilia Museum documents its place in history through a series of displays.

The location is perfect if you want to walk to Beale Street, Sun Studios and indeed the Martin Luther King Museum. The bed was comfortable, no issues there, but I did have one Gripe, that I did impart to a Hotel Employee. There are 2 "Duck Parades" daily, 1 at 11.00am when the Ducks come down from their living quarters on the roof of the hotel down the elevator and thro the Bar area into the pool area. The 2nd one is at 5.00pm ( which is busier) when the Ducks are led away from the pool down the stairs and into the elevator, all conducted by the Duck master himself. I was astonished to see people who were clearly non residents arriving for both parades literally hours before and sitting in the seated area with their own "beverages", I found this practice grossly unfair to residents like my wife and I who specifically for our 3 night stay in Memphis chose the Peabody to experience the parades when we could have chosen a more "economical" option. We did turn up at least 1.5 hours early to get a seat but to no avail, we had to stand behind a nylon barrier with the general public to get a view of the parade, it was disappointing to say the least !! Whilst I understand this "spectacle" is available to the General Public, my gripe is that these obvious "non-residents" were sitting in the nice seated area and had not in many cases, purchased a beverage from the bar, in the UK, we have rule that people abide to, its a simple one "No drink, No seat", this needs to be policed in some way by the Hotel Management This practice needs to be eradicated, I was more than happy to sit there with my wife and partake of a number of beverages whilst waiting for the Parade, but no, we were unable to locate any seats and I may add, 1.5 hours before both events. Memphis itself was disappointing, the City looks to be in a financial mess, and whilst we visited Graceland, and the 3 other sites listed above, there is not much else to do really.! Beale Street was ok, the bands in some of the bars were excellent, but for me, 3 days is more than enough to see Memphis, Tennessee.

We spent 3 nights in the Peabody Memphis The hotel is indeed a fine old lady presenting the best of Tennessee charm. Staff are all excellent and accommodating. I booked a Queen room which if you are a large person or used to a kings sized bed will be a challenge! The queen room is very functional but has a tiny bathroom and of course a queen sized bed! The duck walk is well worth seeing at 11am and again at 5pm. To get a decent view get there at least 45 minutes beforehand. Happy hour 5-7 also is a bonus !! Best of all being located downtown, the Peabody is in the centre of nightlife and restaurants. Well worth a visit.

The hotel is strapped in history with central fountain where the ducks swim beautiful surroundings. However we had travelled for six hours to arrive at 11:30 -check in at four but we had the option as a room was available to pay $25 and check in then we did as we were exhausted. The next item to extra as much money from us as possible was to upgrade our room for $50 per night. We had booked through a travel agent a superior double room so we thought we are all good apparently this was the smallest room they offer which was a bit of a let down. The bed was a queen but room clean although dated. The construction noise did spoil our stay we had no clue about the construction as no one told us. The ducks were not the Highlight er expected either a matter of seconds and it’s all over.

Great time at the Peabody. Everything you need or want is in the hotel. Duck parade was adorable. Highly recommend to everyone!
