Reviews for Le Negresco

Beware on Entry!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Security completely overreact to visitors to the property wanting dinner or a drink. I am informed by my hotel that my experience was not unique. I was made to feel like a criminal for entering at all! Despite that the concierge at the bar was polite and friendly and the bar keep was approachable providing thoughtful service. I stayed for a drink and bar snacks all of which were delicious and worth the wait (I was made to wait in reception for a table to become available). A lovely visit in the end though marred a bit by the unfortunate experience at entry.

Great stay at a very special character hotel. Art at every step, history, exceptional service and high level food. A must luxury stay in Nice. Special mention to their top level concierge, fast, spot on their recommendations and always ready to help. Highly recommended

Afternoon delight at Le Negresco

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We stopped into the bar to have cocktails. The hotel was wonderful. We had Gin from Monaco with tonic and another friend had Lillet on ice. A very chill afternoon with friends. Service was great and the atmosphere was lovely with a wonderful view of the palm trees.

Need an update

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

The hotel has pros and cons like most old hotels. It has beautiful architecture inside and outside. Huge open reception area, large event rooms, high ceilings, lovely bar areas etc. Staff is well trained and there is a mix of senior and junior people. In and out of the hotel is fast and efficient. We had a very good hotel and room tour upon arrival. We liked the location, 2 k away from the old city and all the tourists. Hence, you need to walk 2 k to get to the old city and 3 k to the harbour. But it’s a very nice walk. Main train station with great connections is straight up the street. We took the train from Paris and flew home. The train is a nice experience. We did not try the beach club this time as it was closed but did so in summer last year. Very good. We had dinner at Le Rotode , very good dinner, great quality and good atmosphere. Our 2nd floor rooms were connecting with sea view. Room’s was clean and well functioned but needs an update. Cleaning and turn down service was spotless. A lot of noise from next door, despite neighbours wasn’t loud. Lots of traffic noise from the street. Recommend asking for high floor room, but bring ear plugs as walls are very thin. Beds are really soft, could hardly move once you “arrived”. Breakfast area was too small for the number of quests, noisy like a cafeteria when outside serving is closed. Gym has brand new equipment but very small and not up to current standards. Spa was world class. We had a great stay and would consider staying again but would need to be guaranteed to have a high floor room.

Private small museum , horrible hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I would tell the hotel to sell a few paintings and renovate the rooms . If I want to see a museum I go to Louvre , when I go to an hotel is to sleep and rest . Through out my stay I went from Average , then to Poor and finally to Terrible after the check a chat with the Duty Manager Telling a guest that the hotel is owned by a Foundation and they don't have any say in the renovation decision , and that nobody complaints about the hotel shows a really poor management from the Foundation and the General Manager. To allow renovation in many rooms disturbing the guests when they brag for animal rights but not for guests rights is a joke at its best . The list of problems could be very long but will just mention some and let the pictures attached speak by themselves . -Sound proof window with gaps - lots of noise and cold - No heater working with 15 degrees outside - Doors cannot closed - Inconsistent hot water - Shower without shelf to place your amenities . Need to put on the floor - Light switches , just one for whole area - No plugs - No proper pillows , just throw pillows to sleep - No choice of hard or soft pillows available - Broken old doors - No head bed board - you hit the wood while sleeping Etc etc etc For the GM : block half a floor to concentrate the renovation and don't disturb guests all around the hotel . Improve your standards by visiting international brands like MO , Peninsula , Hyatt For the Duty Manager : get a better training of how to deal with guests complaints and don't be so arrogant - For the only person in Front Office who has my full respect - Julian , you will be a great GM but you better change company soonest - For the Foundation ; you should have sold this wonderful building to Bill Gates and Four Seasons , or manage properly a 5 star hotel . The rooms are worse than a 3 star hotel, at least those where I stayed - For the well travelled and 5 star customers : look for other hotel .
