I would tell the hotel to sell a few paintings and renovate the rooms . If I want to see a museum I go to Louvre , when I go to an hotel is to sleep and rest . Through out my stay I went from Average , then to Poor and finally to Terrible after the check a chat with the Duty Manager Telling a guest that the hotel is owned by a Foundation and they don't have any say in the renovation decision , and that nobody complaints about the hotel shows a really poor management from the Foundation and the General Manager. To allow renovation in many rooms disturbing the guests when they brag for animal rights but not for guests rights is a joke at its best . The list of problems could be very long but will just mention some and let the pictures attached speak by themselves . -Sound proof window with gaps - lots of noise and cold - No heater working with 15 degrees outside - Doors cannot closed - Inconsistent hot water - Shower without shelf to place your amenities . Need to put on the floor - Light switches , just one for whole area - No plugs - No proper pillows , just throw pillows to sleep - No choice of hard or soft pillows available - Broken old doors - No head bed board - you hit the wood while sleeping Etc etc etc For the GM : block half a floor to concentrate the renovation and don't disturb guests all around the hotel . Improve your standards by visiting international brands like MO , Peninsula , Hyatt For the Duty Manager : get a better training of how to deal with guests complaints and don't be so arrogant - For the only person in Front Office who has my full respect - Julian , you will be a great GM but you better change company soonest - For the Foundation ; you should have sold this wonderful building to Bill Gates and Four Seasons , or manage properly a 5 star hotel . The rooms are worse than a 3 star hotel, at least those where I stayed - For the well travelled and 5 star customers : look for other hotel .

Excellent hotel. Staff is available 24 hours to helpout with any situation. Hotel was centrally located. The spa pool was very comfortable. The restaurants are excellent. Extremely clean and security is great. Housekeeping services are excellent. Everyone smiles. There is a lot of art work and history in this hotel and you could spend and are allowed to visit each floor to appreciate the art. Allow time for that to appreciate artistry.

Let's start with the most unpleasant thing of the review, the negative aspects: None! I tend to always find something to criticize or that I'm not satisfied with, in this case I have to say everything was perfect. Let's start with the fact that the staff is worthy of the highest hotel school, in particular a big round of applause for the concierge service that already a few weeks before my arrival in Nice helped me with restaurant bookings. Even during the stay, the staff was always very helpful and efficient in fulfilling any desire. I believe that the great strength of the hotel is also not being part of a large chain but being under a "local" French management that gives a more familiar touch to the stay. The "savoire faire" of France is very noticeable in the hotel's services. Of course the prices are not those of the Novotel but then again this is one of the most iconic hotel structures in France if not in Europe. And in any case, especially for us who come from Switzerland, the price is more than reasonable for the services offered. But what about breakfast??? I still dream about it every morning at home: excellent typical French bakery and pastry products: phenomenal. There is certainly not a large buffet like a large seaside resort but I can guarantee that breakfast satisfies every need and shows the best of French cuisine in the morning. If you then have other desires just order from “à la carte menu”. Don't forget that you are also in an art gallery with 6000 pieces in the aisles of the hotel including some works by Dalì. We had booked a room with a garden and partial sea view: very large with everything you can expect in a 5 star hotel. If I really have to criticize, the bathtub instead of the shower in the bathroom was not the best.... Another thing that I found curious, even though I also care about the environment, was the water offered in the room in Tetra Pak packaging... maybe it would be more classy glass bottles with the typical “N” logo found everywhere in the hotel. The hotel is located on the famous Promenade des Anglais and the whole city can be easily visited on foot leaving your car in the hands of the very kind parking attendants. I think the hotel deserves all 5 stars, I can't wait to go back maybe in the summer to take advantage of their beach! Highly recommended!

We spent 4 nights at this classic French hotel. At first we were assigned a room with a deep tub which also included a shower. Because of the depth of the bathtub it would have been difficult for me since I am short and so they moved us to a room with a bathtub and separate free standing shower. There are some renovations going on in the hotel but it didn’t disturb us. The hotel is a unique museum like property with art everywhere. Our king sized room was large and decorated in classic highly decorative old French style with a huge painting taking up half of one wall. There was space to unpack all of our stuff, the bed was comfortable, the towels nice, accessible plugs to recharge our electronic devices, two chairs, a table in between and a vanity like area. Though not large, the bathroom had a vanity to hold our stuff, decent lighting and a separate toilet area. The room had electronic blackout shutters but could use some better sound proofing. We could hear our next door neighbors when they were talking loudly to their grandchildren on their cell phones and on Friday night when there was loud music in the bar below our room. When we mentioned this at checkout the assistant manager was quite upset and apologetic and unsolicitedly deducted our parking fees. We even received a phone call from the manager after our departure apologizing for the noise issue. Breakfast was in a lovely room and featured a nice buffet as well as a menu. I wish I could give this hotel a 4.5 star review. I would highly recommend this hotel.
