This place is amazing! The food is really great. The facility is nice and a staff goes over and beyond. Enrique at the Asian restaurant is the best! Nelson at the bar was great making amazing drinks. Candy was so fun with the pool games. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. We will be back!

The best trip!

We had the best time ever! The food was amazing, and the staff were top notch. Go to Tempest and see Enrique. He is amazing and was so much fun! We traveled with our beat friends and all the activities from silent disco to karaoke were so fun! We’ll be back!

Wonderful vacation spot!

The resort is beautiful and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. The food was great and the beach is gorgeous! There was fun entertainment most nights and lots of different activities to do throughout the day. The Brazilian barbecue night was nice. Will come again.

Just ok.

Overall an average experience. Broken down into pros and cons: PROS - the food was generally pretty good. The odd dish was over salted but overall we were satisfied. Ceviche bar poolside was a highlight as well as the food at Tempest the Asian fusion restaurant - the spa was lovely. Massages were great and the hydrotherapy was nice. - the beach is awesome and is raked daily to reduce the seaweed. - Lola beach was a nice restaurant for lunch and had the best bar. The pool swim up bar was nice as well - the shower in the rooms was awesome and had a great pressure and rain attachment - housekeeping does an awesome jobs an the room was always neat and tidy - the staff are friendly and professional - check out was seamless and the bell staff were lovely CONS - BUGS - when we arrived our room, while well appointed, was infested with mosquitos. We were bitten mercilessly until we requested the room get fumigated. - Wildlife - this resort has iguanas and Cotis which not infrequently get into the building which are “indoor/outdoor” style. A cotis ran at me and gave me a fright but they otherwise keep to themselves outside of stealing your food if left unattended. I saw them climbing into the poolside garbage bins not infrequently - beach chairs - it’s true that you need to reserve a place to sit by the pool or the beach before breakfast to ensure you have a place to lay in the sun, this was annoying but not insurmountable - entertainment - the synchronized swimmers were lovely but outside of that it was fairly boring - TIMESHARE PITCHES - when my mother and I arrived after nearly 10 hours of travel overnight we found out that our room wasn’t ready, which is fine. What is not fine is sending us, exhausted and hungry, to a ‘VIP Services Rep’ who is exclusively trying to badger you into a sales presentation at Secrets Maroma Beach. It was a punishing 40 min conversation which question after question which really was unnecessary and unexpected. Oddly enough we were both asked no less than three times for our marital status which was extremely odd. When people have not slept, have no room and no food is not the time to push for us to join the ultimate vacation club. Even worse, these ‘reps’ were constantly wandering the lobby and accosted us again after this until we finally agreed to the presentation which took 3 HOURS. Never again, Overall a nice hotel that really needs to reduce the pressure sales and manage the wildlife/flora/fauna better. Not overly impressed and would not return but it was far from a nightmare.

Save your money

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Do not waste your hard earned money on this resort! My husband and I arrived on Jan.12th-18th within the first 2 hours I was ready to go home, the staff we came in contact with were very rude barely any of them could speak a bit of English of course it’s Mexico but come on.tried to make the best of it since we already spent our money but it never got better. They had 4 1/2 restaurants on hand which most of them were not open on a day to day basis so it was very hard to get food unless you got room service, and then you had to wait an hour or more for room service to deliver. Buffet when it was open had the same awful food day in and day out. Most of the restaurants were closed by 8pm buffet open till 10 when it was open. The lobby bar was open at about 9-1am hardly anyone there ever. “Sports bar” if you wanna call it that was only open 6pm-11pm if lucky.pool bar open from 8am-7pm.activities during the day was Jenga, croquet, cornhole and water aerobics same time every single day (boring) music sucked mainly Mexican.i asked them to put on some rock or country music all I got out of them is oh no no can do that.they had 2 dinners at night by the pool buffet style same food as reg. Buffet (sucked.)restaurants were closed when food was outside. Yep even the buffet. You couldn’t see what options were as it was so dark out and barely any lighting,(they didn’t want to see what they were serving either! )The beach was nice to look at but lounge chairs were bad, sit on them and butt touches the ground. No where to sit at the pool, chairs were mainly all taken,80.00$ to rent a bed most of those were open on beach and by the pool.but didn’t want to spend $ for those.has anyone ever heard of getting shut off at an all inclusive? They will shut you off at this one,I saw 2 diff. People get shut off the same day they were not loud.vulgar or stumbling but got shut off anyway, maybe the employees just didn’t like them.i do have 1 good thing to say the guests we met were all phenomenal thank god for those people who became our friends and will be for a lifetime. Most of those we met had the same complaints as us,so it isn’t just us saying how horrible this resort is. They or us will never go to Hyat Zilara in Riviera Maya again!!!!!!!!
