Unwind in peaceful seclusion with awe-inspiring views at this all-pool-villa sanctuary. This 11.2 hectare private island retreat lies at the northern edge of the Maldives in Raa Atoll, accessible via a scenic 45-minute seaplane journey from Malé. Lush vegetation, turquoise waters and abundant marine life set the scene for a relaxing stay interspersed with adventure. Alila Kothaifaru Maldives offers serenity and discovery in an awe-inspiring destination embraced by nature’s wonders. Remote and unspoilt with an air of tranquil seclusion, the picturesque Raa Atoll is one of the deeper atolls in the Maldives archipelago, offering abundant snorkelling and diving options to explore its incredibly rich and diverse underwater world. Beyond swimming in the stunning house reef, enjoy excursions to the famous Hanifaru Bay UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. This protected marine sanctuary is the largest feeding and breeding hotspot in the world for manta rays and whale sharks, which at times congregate here in their hundreds.

We were fortunate enough to spend five nights at the Alila Kothaifaru Maldives for our honeymoon and we're eagerly awaiting the chance to return again in the near future. Simply put, this is the best resort we've every stayed at — be it the clean and beautiful facilities, multiple activities available to us, spacious villa with private pool, and, of course, the lovely and attentive staff. Check-in was a breeze — as chaotic as the Male airport might be, an Alila staff member was there to greet us after leaving the baggage claim, set us up for our seaplane transfer and brought us over to the lounge at the seaplane terminal, where we were able to relax for a bit. The transfer to the resort via seaplane only takes 45 minutes and was a great experience — and we were greeted by the staff when we arrived. Umeda took great care of us throughout our stay, using WhatsApp to communicate with us whenever we needed it. We really appreciated her attention to detail and dedication to making sure we were always comfortable and taken care of. While the best part of staying in the Maldives might involve sitting on the beach, swimming in our private pool (the beachside villas are HUGE!) or enjoying a bite to eat at the huge breakfast buffet or Yakitori Bar (unreal drinks), it was the staff that went above and beyond to make us feel so welcomed. It only took a few hours for staff at all of the restaurants and bars to pick up our name, and they were so outgoing and friendly every time we stopped by. There was also rarely ever a moment in which someone wasn't checking in on us and making sure we were all set, be it a drink while sunning on the beach or anything else. By the end of the trip, we were sad about leaving the resort, but also saying good-bye to all of the great staff there. Special shout-out to Arya at the Yakitori Bar, who was the real MVP and made some unbelievable drinks. (He even gave us some pointers about traveling to Bali as our next stop!) Add in the wonderful turtle snorking trip we did to see sea turtles, and we wish we spent another couple of days here! This stay exceeded all of our expectations, and we can't wait to return one day!

Had a chance to stay at Alila Kothaifaru Maldives a few days ago. As soon as stepped down from the seaplane, I was welcomed by the resort team. My butler’s name is Umeda, from Kyrgyzstan. She drove me to my villa. Her service is attentive and warm. After I took a short break, I was driven to the Spa. Dr. Arjita from India warmly welcomed me. Dr. Arjita offered me a personalised consultation at the reception area. She has not only a deep understanding of spa and wellness industry, but also the awareness of sustainability. The waste water of the spa (eventually the whole resort) is recycled at the sewage treatment plant, which treats grey water and black water through a biosystem and recycles the water for irrigation. 70% of the products used in the spa come from natural plants of the island. My therapist Tendey is from Bhutan and has excellent communication skills and therapeutic techniques. After my personalised spa treatment, the spa offered me an organic lunch at the Spice Garden. It really completed my spa and wellness journey perfectly. The marketing team of the resort is both young and professional. The leader Ms. Hanadi, personally took me on a tour of the resort’s characteristics and strong sustainable development concept. I am so much impressed. Rein from the marketing department, is also very decent. His photographic skills are unique. The variety of F&B of the resort is abundant and the quality of the food is also very high. Chef Frank is from Germany, young and creative. He had several years of working experience in Shanghai,China. It has given him better understanding of Chinese guests. Catering staff also come from all over the world. Sebastian is from Chongqing, China, and Loudhy is from Indonesia. They are really attentive and warm. Thomas, the general manager of the resort, is from Switzerland. He is an industry veteran and easy to communicate with. Additionally, it should be mentioned that the resort has a small island called The Shack, which can be reached within 5 minutes by taking a fast yacht from the main island. Watching the sunset over there is truly stunning. It is an experience that is difficult to be described in words. The hotel also has a Spice Garden, where enjoying organic lunch is a natural journey. I will definitely come back if there is a chance. A huge thank you to all the staff for providing highly personalised guest service. Thank you!!!

Our stay at Alila Kothaifaru Maldives was an experience we’ll never forget, and that’s thanks to the incredible team who work there. From the moment we stepped off the Seaplane, it felt like they were creating magic for us. Every detail seemed perfectly tailored, from the personal touches in our overwater villa to the way the staff remembered our preferences without us even asking. They didn’t just serve meals—they created moments. Whether it was a sunset dinner by the beach or a quiet breakfast with fresh foods and local flavors, it all felt special. The staff’s warmth and attentiveness made every day feel like a dream. It’s the people here who turn paradise into something unforgettable.

Overall fantastic! Particular mention to Mohamed, Loudhy, Rai, Maaish, Sebastian, Rameez, Ned and Hafiz who went above and beyond for us in Food and Beverage. Spa was electic and exceptional. Syn our host was always willing to help and provided a tailored service. Rooms are sublime and cant fault them. Resort is kept clean and tidy and so massive shout out to the resort maintenance team. Housekeeping are great and notice small details. You must come here you wont regret. Salam, Assistant Manager, was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions and went out of his way to be of service.

The location is amazing!! Especially the stuff at the restaurants and bars are extremely nice and helpful. I would recommend to book a over water villa, which we had, as the beach villas are „hidden in the jungle“ with some having basically no beach
