Rome, Italy is a city that requires the use of superlatives in its description. Western culture and history call this modern city home, as can be witnessed in the beautiful architecture, breathtaking collections of art and sculpture, and even in the stones beneath your feet. Rome is a place to feast the senses and inspire the spirit, and the Hotel Dei Mellini is the place to rest your head at the end of each memorable day. Located on the right bank of the Tiber River, calling the Spanish Steps and St. Peters Cathedral as close neighbors, guests are privy to vistas and access that few encounter in this legendary city. Opulent and comfortable, with modern amenities and an Art Deco décor, the Dei Mellini is your luxurious address in ancient Rome.

This hotel is really closer to "good" than "very good", but that's not an option on TA. However, it is an excellent value for it's location in the heart of Rome, which is why I opted for 4 stars. First of all, the interior of the hotel doesn't look nearly as nice in person as it does in the photos on the website. It's a little old and worn and the lobby is not spacious at all. Our room was large and quiet, and even had a large patio with table and chairs. However, the carpet was stained, the patio was covered with leaves and needed to be cleaned, and there didn't ever seem to be enough light in the room because no sun came in the window. There was a sofa, but no lamp so it was too dark to read. Also, there was a TV, but no Engish channels. On the positive side, it looked like the bathroom had been updated because it had plenty of room, good lighting and two sinks. The bed was comfortable, but possibly a little soft for some. The staff at the front desk was friendly, helpful and spoke good English. There was a small lobby bar where, one night, the bartendress was very generous in pouring drinks but, the next night, the bartender was very stingy. Both times we got complimentary snacks. The breakfast that was included with our room was a disaster. None of the tables had been cleaned when we got there around 9:00 and the food selection was small and uninviting. The second morning, we opted to go out to a nearby cafe instead.

We loved this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a great breakfast every morning before heading out for the day. When we took our Vatican tour, we took a taxi in the morning but walked back to the hotel. We also walked to our tour of the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Vanona Square. Conveniently located. Many restaurants close.

Lovely hotel! We had a suite (404) and it was completely wonderful. Lots of room. There is also a well-stocked bar with attentive service and delightful snacks. Every person we dealt with before and during our stay was just top notch: booking, concierge, bar service, breakfast service...all just very friendly and inviting people. Nice and varied breakfast: eggs and bacon, fruits, lots of pastries, and a selection of coffee and juices. The location is also great, right near the Vatican and easy to cross over the Tiber to walk to the rest of the city center. We have already said we'd definitely stay there again!

Hotel Dei Mellini was a fabulous hotel. The staff is super friendly and professional. The breakfast is amazing and the room was comfortable. It’s centrally located. We walked most of the city and never had any issues. Close to some great restaurants and gelato. If you need suggestions or transportation, the front desk is happy to help. Thank you to the whole staff for making my first overseas trip a memorable one.

My daughter and I have just returned from a 5 night stay in this hotel in a superior room. The hotel is wonderfully placed in a quiet street and in walking distance to all the major sites. All the staff at the hotel were friendly and very helpful. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble, from the gentleman helping us with our luggage to the efficient and friendly staff in the breakfast room and on reception. The rooms were lovely and clean and a few nice touches like a complimentary bowl of fruit. Breakfast was good , plenty of variety. We would highly recommend.
