Wander through the narrow streets, where culture and history burst out from every corner. This charming five-star hotel features an exquisite design and is surrounded by Mediterranean gardens with stunning panoramic views of Rome and a relaxing atmosphere. Villa Agrippina Gran Meliá, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, is an exclusive indulgence retreat just a stone's throw from the Eternal City's main artistic gems, being the closest hotel to the Vatican and the Sistine chapel. Named after the first Roman empress, the property boasts an impeccable design that oozes culture and history, featuring panoramic views, a lush Mediterranean garden, delicious fine local cuisine and a spectacular outdoor swimming pool - not at all common in Roman hotels - to round off a picture-perfect stay in this captivating city.

Wonderful hotel, fantastic setting, its position for access to the main things you want to see, but most of all the staff. They went the extra mile for everything, they made our stay so enjoyable. I would 100% recommend this hotel if you are visiting this Eternal City.

This is hidden gem located right next to Vatican City and yet also within walking distance from all the things you need to experience in Rome. Fantastic staff that made our stay one to remember. Extremely helpful assistance in planning the most see activities e.g. tickets for the all the famous sites. With their own secluded great garden and swimming pool area, this makes it very a unique place to stay. Friendly and warm staff that greets you at your welcome and bid you a warm farewell when you leave.

This hotel was a 5 plus Star facility. The room was beautifully decorated and extremely clean. Unique, complementary decor. Our room had a double glass shower (you could see into the shower from the bedroom and into the bedroom from the shower). The drapes perfectly adorned the room. The hotel has a beautiful signature scent! The lobby was beautiful and graciously appointed.

We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Agrippina. Having booked through British Airways Holidays we knew that the hotel would be of a good standard but they exceeded our expectations in every respect. For us, the location was perfect. Close enough to be able to walk to all of the sites and have plenty of options for dinner (I'm sure the restaurant in the hotel was fabulous but we always prefer to get out and visit different restaurants when we're away) but far enough out of the centre for it to be much quieter. It felt like a wonderful oasis of calm in a noisy and sometimes chaotic city. We were there in March but I would imagine that in the heat of the Roman summer being able to retreat to the cool of the gardens and outdoor swimming pool would be very welcome. Every single member of staff we met was helpful, kind and happy. This was especially important when the fire at Heathrow meant we couldn't fly home as planned. The staff at Reception were calm and reassuring, which was just what we needed when everything else was so uncertain. We ended up staying another two nights in this paradise and once that had been arranged were able to relax again and make the most of these 'bonus' holiday days. I must make special mention of Antonio who took such good care of us at breakfast - that's not to say that the other members of staff where not good but he stood out as being especially warm, caring and funny! The breakfast buffet itself was wonderful - everything you could possibly want - certainly more fruit and vegetable juices than I have ever seen elsewhere. I also loved the coffee, perhaps not surprising that the coffee was good in Italy but you can never be sure. The only problem was that most days I found myself ordering another pot and that meant that I had to have some more pastries or cake to go with it. What a terrible hardship! We had the most basic level room but, for Rome, it was spacious and very comfortable with all of the amenities we would expect from this high quality hotel. I particularly loved the toiletries - generous containers of delicious smelling soaps and moisturisers. All in all we could not recommend Villa Agrippina more highly.

Villa Agrippina exceeded our expectations. Such a beautiful sanctuary in busy Rome. It was so nice to retreat to the hotel after a busy day of sightseeing. The pool is fabulous and we had an excellent massage in the spa. Breakfast was delicious. And the vibe of the hotel is very cool overall. Also a great location close to the Vatican and Trastevere. Highly recommend.

The best hotel in Rome. Congratulations to the management of the Gran Melia Rome for an extremely well-organized hotel.
