Pros Great location Very helpful staff Wonderful cool old building Room clean and comfortable Decent on site dining Rooftop plunge pool kids enjoyed Nice and tasty morning coffee Cons Ongoing work around building. Didn’t really disturb us in any way but just feels a bit “under construction”. As a couple people mentioned street noise can be a good bit. Sunday night surprisingly noisy. Seemed like a big night for weddings. Gym was decent but AC not working so quite stuffy. Food was ok.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay in San Juan, prior to our cruise departure. Largely because we booked a charming old world hotel called El Convento. The rooms were elegant and soundproofed and air conditioned. The center courtyard was large and comfy and had lots of umbrellas for rain and sun protection, plus a lovely resident cat! We had several meals there and were impressed with the quality and service. The hotel offers a nightly wine and cheese hour at their sister hotel, which was a short walk away. It was lovely and Henry( the GM) checked in and chatted with guests regularly. The hotel kindly left a bottle of wine and glasses for my birthday, gave us bottled water and provided umbrellas. There were 2 weddings and a photo shoot while we were there. A lovely hotel! Lots of shops along the cobbled streets, historical sites easy to walk to.

This was a fabulous hotel. Reminded me of a casa rural in Spain where you had your own room in a family mansion. Open interior courtyard was beautiful. The artifacts/decor are museum pieces to enjoy at every turn. The staff were gracious. Plunge pool was smaller size, no lap swimming, typical for these boutique hotels. Enjoyed the wine & cheese evening event. Room updated, good WiFi & plenty of outlets. The location to explore OSJ was perfect. Felt very safe. Shocker alert:airport has no electric connections, must rent a power bank, charge all devices 100% before leaving for airport.

Andrea, Arifreds and Indira took great care of us in the restaurant. They were wonderful hosts and the service level was unbeatable. What a lovely dining experience! They were engaged and knowledgeable and very helpful guiding us through the menu and drinks.

The location couldn't be better - providing easy walking around Old San Juan. The hotel itself is delightful, an architectural gem having been a 17th Cent Carmelite Convent, it has an airy courtyard for drinks and a restaurant. Very nice rooms and helpful staff. Top notch.
