About the Hotel
Embracing a legacy of rich history dating back to the 15th century, Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando Hotel is located on the first paved road of the New World, Calle Las Damas, in the heart of Santo Domingo’s historic Zona Colonial, designated a UNESCO Heritage Site. Comprising three stone houses and courtyards built in 1502, the historic building was the very first to be built on the country’s colonial land and the home of the town’s founder and first Spanish governor of the Americas, Nicolas de Ovando, and his companion Christopher Columbus.

Could be much better
We stayed one night at Odelpa Nicolas and it was good. The hotel is superb and very well located. The rooms are large. Unfortunately the property is not maintained very well and the breakfast is below average. This place would be amazing with better management.

Amazing mojitos and great stay
The Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando is mojito haven, thanks to Clara’s craft. I highly recommend her classic and creative twists, like passionfruit. All coctails are accompanied with her enthusiasm , her knowledge in local history and great conversations. It’s a must-visit gem!

Can’t sleep because of very high music
Don’t even think about it if you want to rest. Ask if they have a wedding or celebration before staying. I am at the hotel right now and there is a celebration, just in the court yard around the rooms. With the highest music ever! So if you want to rest is after 11:00. By the way this is a 200 us room hotel.

Beautiful hotel right in the center of Zona Colonial, the service is amazing, very friendly and helpful staff. Thank you Felix Gonzalez for your help and great service during our stay! We will stay there again on our next trip to the DR, really happy with everything.

Kudos Clara Velez, Ana Cespedes and Hernandez
Hodelpa Nicolas de ovando hotel, on the historical street Calle Las Damas, became my “ pied de terre” in Santo Domingo. Amazing service, extremely professional Flawless execution in details and accommodating 24/7. Kudos to the front desk staff and their director Ana, great always. Same to food and beverage team . Virgilio, Sugar, Guillermo, Daian, Erick, Mindy, Ramona and specially Clara Velez, so accommodating, profesional top notch. Thanks also to Mister Hernandez, the director. Hernandez, Ana and Clara are the type of hospitality professionals that make me feel always at home and when I am in another country they’re the measuring stick for others. Thanks,
