About the Hotel
Embracing a legacy of rich history dating back to the 15th century, Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando Hotel is located on the first paved road of the New World, Calle Las Damas, in the heart of Santo Domingo’s historic Zona Colonial, designated a UNESCO Heritage Site. Comprising three stone houses and courtyards built in 1502, the historic building was the very first to be built on the country’s colonial land and the home of the town’s founder and first Spanish governor of the Americas, Nicolas de Ovando, and his companion Christopher Columbus.

Incredibly beautiful historic hotel with delicious fine international and Dominican cuisine and professional customer service oriented staff. I have been traveling to Santo Domingo for over 15 years ...this is the Best hotel in Zona Colonel area

Full of historic character in a wonderful location
The Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando is located on a quiet street at the centre of the historical district of Santo Domingo. It can be difficult for taxis/uber to get to the hotel and you may need to be picked up/dropped on the neighbouring Calle Isabel La Catolica (from which there is a short connecting footpath leading directly to the hotel). The historic district is easily walkable and there are plenty of restaurants and bars in the vicinity. The hotel is old and stylish with quirky rooms that are luxurious and clean. The bar area and staff were wonderful and introduced Brugal Leyenda rum which is a must-try for anyone visiting the D.R. It was nice to sit around the pool area which was never too busy. There is an associated restaurant next door however this was booked out for a wedding during the stay and was inaccessible. Don't expect modern-shaped rooms, but do expect to enjoy being in a hotel with oodles of character.

La comida es súper buena y el servicio más que bueno, súper atentos todos y servicial como en ningún otro restaurante, la camarera Clara Vélez y Mario Pichardo tienen un servicio como ningún otros, súper atentos y sonrientes y va con dicho restaurante y el ambiente.

Estupenda opción
Hotel situado en el centro colonial de Santo Domingo, a un paso de las principales visitas turísticas. Edificio de 500 años muy bien conservado. Desayuno buffet variado y rico. Mención especial a Katya Polanco, que nos ha prestado un servicio impecable y a Edwin, en la entrada a la habitación. Muy recomendable.

Excelente servicio al cliente
Las atenciones de todos los empleados son 5 estrellas desde Edwin en la entrada hasta los de banquete como Clara y Claribel. Siempre atentos hasta el ultimo detalle. La habitación es comoda, limpia y linda. Los alrededores verdes con sus pasillos abiertos es nuestro favorito en el hotel. Volveremos!
