Originally built in the 17th century by the great Italian architect Carlo Fontana, Grand Hotel Continental Siena is a jewel in the heart of the Tuscan city of Siena. Its transformation from a splendid aristocratic home to one of the world's most elegant hotels inspired a painstaking restoration, and the hard work was indeed worthwhile. With its original architectural features and magnificent frescoes, including a wall painting of St. Christopher dating from the 15th century, the hotel is now an integral part of the city's cultural heritage.

We stayed in this hotel while traveling by car through Tuscany. As previous reviews have mentioned - DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL IF YOU ARE TRAVELING BY CAR. It cost us 1/2 day of touring, 250 euro+ cabs to recover the car and enormous agitation. And we did EXACTLY as the hotel advised us - but yet, our car was TOWED and they blamed us. The manager, Natalie, has not responded to my calls despite that she witnessed the events unfolding and I have left messages with both my phone and email contact. The directions to the parking that the hotel provides are clear enough. They do not mention that one must navigate a sea of tourists in groups on a busy pedestrian walkway to arrive at the place where the hotel will park your car. We tried once and became so overwhelmed by driving through tour groups that we parked on a street nearby. The hotel check-in advised that we must promptly move our car and provided a map with written instructions on a different place to park. We followed those instructions exactly and returned to the hotel and showed the ticket to the front desk. We were assured it was safe to park in that place overnight and provided a parking discount ticket for the parking checkout. The next morning we realized our car had been towed. The same front desk attendant who instructed us, IN WRITING, where to park, blamed us and said we didn’t read the signs. We did not see any signs in english and, after this, looked for them and still did not find them. The manager, Natalie, observed this unfolding and disappeared. My calls to her with my phone number and email have gone unanswered, contrary to her representation on this site that they are “always available.” The concierge accompanied us to the police station where we paid a substantial fine and then gave us an address 20+ minutes away by cab where we went to recover the car. No surprise at this point that it was MUCH more expensive to recover the car than the hotel told us. The room was fine, but expensive. Turns out, MUCH more expensive than we expected.

The grand continental hotel in Siena was 5 stars! From check in to room service, maid service, bell service, restaurant service all was first rate. You will not be disappointed. I had heard this hotel was the best from my daughter who spent her honeymoon here in Feb. 2018. The hotels location is right in the middle of the historical town. You can walk everywhere and we did. I can’t wait to return.

I’ve wanted to stay at this hotel since my first visit to Siena 25 years ago and it certainly didn’t disappoint! What a beautiful hotel just a few steps from the Campo and Duomo. We had a luxury room with view and it was fabulous - a nice sized room with a very high ceiling and a gorgeous view over the rooftops of Siena towards the Duomo and the countryside beyond. The salon is beautiful and the frescos are original from when the palazzo was built. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had the wine tasting and dinner experience in the cellar which was amazing and something I will never forget. Overall, an outstanding stay and we’d love to return one day.

This hotel is amazing! The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Our room was upgraded to a Junior Suite & it was the nicest hotel room I have ever stayed in. The staff made travel arrangements for us & gave us terrific recommendations for dinner. There is a bar & dining available. We also did a wine tasting in the wine cellar which informative & delicious! The location is terrific for exploring Siena on foot. Would strongly recommend!

My family and I just enjoyed a perfect two-night stay at the Grand Hotel Continental Siena. The location was fantastic, right in the heart of everything, allowing us to walk wherever we wanted. True to its name, the hotel exuded old-world charm. Our rooms were spacious and beautifully appointed. The staff was incredibly kind and went above and beyond to help us. The restaurant service was excellent, and the food was delicious. I would absolutely stay at the Grand Hotel again and highly recommend it!
