El Monte Sagrado

A good resort that if not for several annoying issues could be a very good resort. I was in room 626. Positives People. All were friendly and wanted to help. Many seemed new so they did not have all the answers Location. Wonderful, tranquil property in a residential part of Taos. Calming and peaceful. Lots of natural landscape, New Mexico architecture yields a very peaceful property Excellent meals in the restaurant. Breakfast and dinner were excellent Negatives Bedding. Worn out sheet. Cannot see entire screen from the chair in the corner of the room. Damaged wall. See photo. Funky water pressure. Too much actually at the sink or shower. Rain shower head was 150% on all the time. Loose hinges on the cabinets Bathrobes in room? Had to ask for one. First time I have asked for this at a resort/spa. So, a bunch of little things hampered my option on this property. Can be so much better.

The price we paid reflected a much more luxurious experience than the reality we encountered, which was more akin to that of a mid-range travel hotel. The warning signs were evident upon check-in, when I noticed numerous cracked tiles under the valet porch—a fitting metaphor for the overall "cracks" in the quality control and management at El Monte Sagrado. 1. The trash can and large pile of garbage by our building's entrance remained uncleared all day and was eventually ravaged by animals overnight. 2. Several corridors had flaking paint, luggage scrapes, poorly patched damage, and even visible holes. 3. 10-minutes before closing, at the early hour of 10pm, the bar floor was being mopped. The smell of detergent hardly added to our cocktail experience. 4. Used coffee cups in our room were twice left untouched and unwashed. 5. The room phone was broken.   6. The resort’s hot tub was broken for the duration of our stay. 7. The gym lacked water at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, and the single exercise mat was both dirty and unappealing.

This was our favorite vacation in five years and our sole objective was to relax and have some fun. We wanted to stay in a facility that had a spa and we loved the themed rooms at this hotel. Diana, the director of The Living Spa is a wonderful human being and the services offered, from massage and facials to more meditative/spiritual options are fabulous. The room and the Spa experience made the stay fantastic.

We were in Taos for a quick overnight stay. Wish we were staying longer to take advantage of all El Monte Segrado has to offer. The setting is lovely. So close to town, but feels like an oasis. Our room, a Taos double, was quite large. We had requested a ground floor unit, which is what we got. We used the shuttle service to get to dinner as the road construction that is currently going on was very confusing to us (or better to our GPS). All of the staff we encountered were very helpful. We hope to be back soon.

Enjoyed our stay tremendously! Everyone was so accommodating and such a pleasure to talk to. Our room was more than what we expected and we will be staying at El Monte Sagrada again and again ♥️! Thank you for making our stay great!
