I was amazed with Horizon Club Staff are mostly international and multi-language speaker. This is Amazing and fascinating for a country like Japan, where some of the hotel are cold and barely understand english. Here Suyeon as the manager leading is already a highlight! Aisha, Stephanie, Alireza, Jomarie, Carrie, Takeshi and all other staff in Horizon Club. Everything seems to balance except i see them every single day for long hours. I extremely hope they are getting enough time to rest and go back home to their families. They all helped me and my family with restaurant reservation and so on.

We’ve just had a 4 night followed by a 2 night stay at the Shangri La and cannot praise it highly enough. We had Horizon Club rooms and every wish was catered for. The staff were exceptional, going out of their way to make us welcome and helping us source hard-to-get items, for which we are truly grateful. The food provided in the Horizon Club was outstanding and a treat to anticipate every day. We would not dream of staying in any other Tokyo hotel after experiencing the hospitality offered by the Shangri La.

The Shangri La Tokyo has never failed to make me, my family and friends feel at home. You get all the hardware you might expect from a luxury hotel; what makes this place stand out is the exceptional service. The team at the Horizon Club has somehow worked out the formula of being professionally personable. They effortlessly provide such warm service even on the busiest days. Whether it’s with my friends or elderly parents, we are made to feel like such special guests. Thank you to all that works at the Horizon Club. You have once again made my recent stay memorable. A special shoutout to Yukari who took special care in terms of food recommendations or tips on local culture. It truly made me feel like I was coming “home”.

I chose Shangri La because I have had never stayed in that part of town. It was always Shibuya, Toranomon Hills, Shinjuku or Nagatacho area. I must say the decision was the right one cos I thoroughly enjoyed it. The hospitality was spectacular. Staff were polite and in some occasions, I thought they went overboard with their apologies and thanks. The hotel is not new but it’s well maintained. The fixtures and design reminded me of the old Park Hyatt. Lobby was a bit cramped but like PH, the rooms are generous with space. I must say I miss this in some of the newer hotels. So no complaints and if u are thinking about a hotel in this area, do consider Shangri La. I have 3 cautions because the hotel is located on the upper floors of the Marunouchi Trust Tower. 1. If this is your first time, the hotel’s drop off is at B1 of the building. I realised that not all drivers know the entrance of the building. When I tried to order Uber, I could not select the hotel as a pick up point. I had to communicate separately with driver to let him know. So if you are unsure, ask concierge for help/directions before your arrival. Also, the airport limousine from hotel to airport services only Narita flights. So for Haneda, you will have to cab. 2. The surrounding subway stops are not the easiest to navigate because they are inter-linked with Tokyo station. This can be a blessing if you are traveling between Tokyo and rest of Japan. However, if u need to travel within Tokyo, it can be quite challenging to navigate if the subway stop is within Tokyo. Take your time to familiarise the locations. (Oh, yes - you can hear the sounds of the train despite being on a high floor) 3. The gap between the hotel and adjacent building is small. I could literally see the office space in the adjacent building and vice versa. I was in Tokyo over the weekend so this was not an issue. But if you happen to be there over a weekday, your night blinds will probably have to be drawn. And yet, the front facing gave an unobstructed view of Mt Fuji and the Palace. So it’s not all bad. Enjoy Shang for the people and service.

It was our first time in Tokyo for a while. We find staying near Tokyo Station is helpful and this time went to the Shangri La for the first time. It was excellent in all respects. Check in and check out were smooth and we were given both an early check in around noon and a late check out (around 4) to help us with the Qantas times to and from Haneda. We highly appreciated that. We had a deluxe king room overlooking the station -- it was very comfortable and large in comparison with other options in the area. We enjoyed seeing both a view (and the trains arriving and departing). Everyone we dealt with (whether attendants at breakfast, concierge for restaurant bookings and otherwise) were friendly and went out of their way to assist and connect. It was not cheap (even with a stay four pay for three nights deal) but if your budget stretches to it we thought it was worth it. There is construction going on on one side of the hotel -- we have seen that other reviewers had issues when overlooking that, but as our room did not, we can only say that it did not affect our stay. Similarly we thought that breakfast was good and comfortable --- all days but one a tour group staying in the hotel had breakfast in a separate dining room and both were not crowded. The remaining day was tighter but space was ok (just) --- based on other reviews, it may be that the hotel has taken steps to alleviate some crowding? Anyway we wanted to give a longer review than we usually give as we wanted to highlight the excellent service we received from everyone.
