Jungle vibes

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Wonderful jungle experience! Glamping at its finest so be ok with using bathroom and shower outside. We enjoyed so much! Very peaceful and loved having a private beach! Service was amazing! Food and cocktails wonderful as well!!! Location central and easy access to downtown and other beaches north and south. Appreciated the area being quiet compared to other options north and south. Easy to bike to other beaches in the area.

The service is wonderful and the property is very nicely kept and just beautiful! It really is a serene jungle by the sea experience. I especially loved the incense and the calm music and the daily activities that were put out for the guests to participate in. Food was also delicious!! Really great hotel. Would come back again!

A calm private oasis in hustle of Tulum

We had a very relaxing stay at OurHabitas for a babymoon. Beach in front of hotel is swimmable and lovely. Saw lots of wildlife and stars from our beachfront tent. We spent many hours just sitting in comfortable beach rockers, staring at the beautiful waves, watching the sun rise. Pros: - Centrally located between the Hotel Zone, Tulum city, and beaches - Extremely quiet - Good food, especially included breakfast options, and very accommodating - Kind, warm service - Very clean (not sure how you have tents/outdoor bathrooms in a jungle with so few bugs, but I'm grateful) - Wonderful free yoga and other programming - Copious free beach towels, places to lounge and relax, clean and cool pool - Bed was plush with great pillows Cons: - Have to go far for other food options and dinner menu is limited - Had trouble staying connected to WiFi - Wish there had been a way to refill water bottles during the day. 2L cool water replenished each day in room, but had to pay for additional H2O at the bar or from 7/11 etc. We might have been able to ask for extra but didn't try. Tulum is a weird place - excessive Western tourism has made it simultaneously rich with things to see and eat and difficult to get around. Fortunately, Habitas does offer a few free bicycles, so you can get into town or down to the Tulum ruins and beaches in the new national park. The Food Quest is a bit difficult. Taxis into Tulum are expensive (15-25 USD each way for a 5-10 minute ride) and Habitas has no parking. You could rent a scooter or a bike during your stay to get around. Food delivery (on Tomato) is also available. Expect to pay standard American prices for all meals and drinks, as this is basically the US now. Airport shuttles are also quite pricey, $100 USD from Tulum (40min) and $140 USD to Cancun (1h40m). This is more an indictment of Tulum than Habitas - something to know before you choose this destination so you can factor it into your budget. That all said, we found Tulum to be very safe, were never hustled, and never had any stomach woes despite a lot of fish and ice consumption at various places. If you go, stay at Habitas. 5/5 experience overall.

Amazing stay at Our Habitas in Tulum, we spent 5 days and loved the quiet and peacefulness of the place, the staff and food were all incredible, we could not recommend a better place in Tulum ♥️ It was so nice to have a private and peaceful beach away from the loud crowds of Tulum :)

One of the most unique and best vacations we've had.

People ask, how did you find this place? At the planning stage, my wife was very busy at work, she said just pick something and book it. I wanted to see Chichen Itza and learn more about the Mayan culture. Our travel agent sent me a bunch of hotel resort choices. I scrolled quickly through cookie cutter, big hotel brands and then, wait, this is very different…Our Habitas, Tulum. For two burned out jaded professionals this was just what the doctor ordered. We arrived after dark and when security opened the gate , we were welcomed into a surreal, magical jungle world and led by Hannibal, concierge, down winding sandy paths to our own private, detached canvassed walled, thatched room cabin on the edge of the jungle touching the beach. We could smell the sea and hear the waves crashing the beach. The interior, spacious, luxurious, with king bed, vanity, excellent wifii, easily adjustable air conditioning. Then Hannibal says, with outside toilet and shower. My wife gives me that look, like what did you get me into. I dash to the door and open it to an exotic, bamboo enclosed outdoor bathroom. Relieved, I turn to her and say, it’s ok dear it has a real toilet. I have to admit, there’s something very intriguingly erotic showering naked outdoors. The next morning we awake to ethereal music floating through the palms. We make our way down to the dining room on the beach. There we have our choice of tables inside or outside beneath the palms. This is where we meet the incredible, very personable , friendly, but very well trained professional staff. The food is out of this world, Certainly , Michelin star worthy, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each dish seducing, the flavors orgasmic. Then one of the staff lights the smudging pot and encircles the dining and bar area emitting a calming cloud over the entire area , relaxing us all and dissipating the stress we may have carried with us from home. There are so many activities to enjoy at Our Habitas, Tulum. We did things we never did before, such as a very interesting and educational alchemy class, a painting class. We didn’t know we had any artistic ability and surprised ourselves. There is also yoga in the mornings and breathing techniques taught. I encourage you to treat yourself to a massage at the spa. It will be extraordinary , as you be immersed a little more in the Mayan culture. It will be one of the best things you can do for you. My wife and I were able to disconnect from our hectic stressful careers and the weight of running a household for 10 wonderful days. And we able to reconnect as a couple and as soul mates. Some of our best times together were reading by the pool, gazing at the beautiful ocean or being lulled dreamily by the sound of the waves. Often we were the only ones frolicking in the waves on the private beach. Out Our Habitas is a small, adults only, boutique resort with only 56 cabins , so even if full, there are no crowds. The restaurant and bar staff, I must mention so many that have truly made our vacation so special: Juan, food & beverage manager, Chef Fernando and his team of incredible chefs, Wilbur, Edson, Pedro, Gutberto, Jorge, Alex & Raphael. Rhese folks work long 12 to 14 hour days when it’s busy, then have 1 to 2 hour commutes to get home to their families. They give so much to their guests, remember to be generous to them. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We hope to see you again some day and if any of you come to Vancouver it would be an honour to host you.
