With awe-inspiring 12th-century architecture and soaring frescoed ceilings, Baglioni Hotel Luna, named one of the Best Hotels in Europe by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler, is a stunning Venetian landmark. Host to discerning guests since the 1500s, this venerable hotel located just steps from the Piazza San Marco is the oldest and one of the most distinguished in Venice. Many of the elegant guestrooms are adorned with balconies that overlook the Grand Canal, and all are furnished with period antiques and magnificent chandeliers. At this aristocratic haven, you'll enjoy the best of the city in exquisite style

I really wanted to love this hotel, but what an utter disappointment. We're staying here now. I'll start with the Pros. Positives: - The location is very convenient to the main tourist sites, literally a few yards from St. Mark's Square (though some may actually find it too close, given the steady and heavy flow of tourists near the hotel) - We both did the tasting menu at the restaurant and it was spectacular. The food merits a star, in my opinion. The only VERY minor issue was with service (had to ask multiple times for water bottles, for example) but it.was nothing other than the difference between 1/2/3 stars. The food is the star and it was great. - Breakfast is fine, nothing amazing, but fine. Negatives: - We booked the room based on reviews through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts, booking a Superior Room for about $1,000 per night. While the size of the room is acceptable for a European hotel, the view out the single window in the room is horrible, the worst I've had in thousands of stays over the last 30 years of travel. The only thing that comes close was a Newport Beach Marriott stay where I looked out at dumpsters and a parking lot, but I digress. This view looks out on a part of the roof of an interior part of the hotel. We are on the third floor. We are looking out at square of bright green astro turf that is coming up from the roof and covers about 500 square feet. It also has the bonus of oil stains on it. I spoke with the front desk about the room and the fact that Amex FHR stays do come with an upgrade if available. I was told no other rooms were available. Which is factually incorrect - multiple rooms were available for the duration of our stay (i went on their website to see if I could book 2 rooms for the same nights). When the blinds and sheer is open, there is a green tinged hue that comes in from sunlight reflecting off the fake turf, so when in the room, we just close everything and have no natural light. I guess the bright side is that it really encourages us not to stay in the room. My wife has described it as a dark den of sadness. My suggestion is to book the Gritti (which we loved last time and will likely choose next time), the Aman, the Belmond, the Palazzo Cristo, etc. Maybe eat here (though there are so many great choices, maybe not?) But yeah, for $1,000 per night, avoid the sadness.

During our stay at the bagioni hotel we had one dinner at Ristorante Canova and it was amazing, Lovely restaurant well designed and set out. Service was excellent, the team are on point, constantly filling up our glasses, taking away empty plates and catering to our every need. Bread basket was full of lovely choices especially enjoyed the focaccia, delicious authentic food and excellent service especially by Sebastiano for the suggestion the dishes and wine pairing very professional. Thank you for a great evening! We will be back!

What a spectacular hotel! Our second stay and it was as good as before. Small boutique hotel filled with antiques, comfortable rooms and suites, a divine bar and a delicious restaurant in Canova. Service is first-rate and the cleanliness is impeccable. LOVE the location; totally quiet at the hotel yet five minutes away is St. Marks Square. Around the corner are world-famous designer boutiques where exquisite shopping rules. Cannot say enough good things about this precious jewel.

I have stayed here before and it was somewhat consistent to what I remember. The reason I stayed here again is the main reason to stay here, its location. It is near the square and close to most everything. The hotel itself is ok, and while it seems some of it has been updated it is still outdated and old. We also had AC issues which caused sleeping issues. The maintenance guys were not able to improve the situation despite trying. I will not return to this hotel just because I have stayed here twice now, but is a decent option if you can get a good price. The front desk staff was kind and helpful as well which is always a plus.

The Baglioni Luna hotel is the definition of Italian hospitality and luxury. The location is perfect, steps from San Marco but on a beautiful peaceful street and reachable by private water taxi via it own dock. The rooms are immaculate, and very well decorated. The breakfast room is breathtaking with its ceiling and artwork. The breakfast team and the food makes your start of the day happy and memorable. The restaurants , both the bistro and the higher end are fabulous. The real key to this magical place is the whole team , each and every employee are there to make your stay wonderful. They are aways there to help , but never in your way. They truly get hospitality. We cannot wait to go back! By the way.. they make better Bellini than Harry’s Mike Paradiso

At Luna Hotel Baglioni, we received the absolute best service and the most beautiful room! The gourmet meal included in the package was superb! I would highly recommend this property. It was centrally located near San Marco square also. The time went by too quickly...very romantic also. We hope to go back very soon.
