Reviews for Ca' Sagredo Hotel

This is Italian hospitality! 5 Star Hotel! Shame! I don't recommend it!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Who is happy about this? You give out your bank account details via email and phone? BECAUSE I DON'T! It's my fault? Allegedly! Is this 5 Star level in Italy? Is this the 5 star reception? This is 5 star behavior? Room reservation: Thursday, January 30, 2025 I just booked a room at this hotel and the system accepted it and I received a confirmation. After a short while, I received an email asking me to provide my bank card details and CVV number. I couldn't believe that a hotel receptionist would ask for this in an email after an accepted and confirmed reservation, where I had provided all my bank card details. I suspected fraud, so I wrote back that this was a joke, because in today's world, no one gives out bank card details either by email or over the phone. My bank has also brought this to my attention many times in emails. If you provide any data to fraudsters and they damage you through your fault, the bank WILL NOT REFUND IT! Nowadays, scammers use such advanced technology that it's unbelievable. Emails with a logo, phone calls, fake websites and Facebook pages are no problem. As much as I love Italy, everyone knows that you have to pay more attention to details here. After that, they asked for my bank card CVV number over the phone. Of course, I didn't give it out, I only do such serious things in person! I asked the receptionist to cancel the reservation and I would book the room again, thus solving the problem. He replied that it was not possible! It was not possible to cancel or refund the amount. What? If there really was a mistake, can't you cancel the reservation? Not even pay it back? Has the money been transferred or not now? Do they have access to my bank account or not? I don't understand this, because if I'm not willing to give anyone my bank card details, then the reservation has to be canceled even if there really was a mistake and no money and no guest. After that, I was informed that the valid reservation has been cancelled. According to these, it is possible to cancel this reservation! Why didn't the receptionist do this at the beginning of the story? Why do you insist on my bank card details, CVV number? I've been to over a hundreds hotels so far, but nowhere, not once, have they asked for a CVV number via email or phone after a valid, confirmed reservation! After that, the receptionist asked me not to book again because I had become an unwanted guest. I can't get a room in this hotel, I should go somewhere else, there are many hotels in Venice. "we will cancel your reservation. Please do not book again" Then I thought that if I had actually communicated with the original receptionist, he must have gotten upset and just wrote that to prevent me from rebooking. The answer came quickly. "Please read your previous email and learn good manners: you can book another hotel, there are many hotels in Venice." This is it! This is real hospitality! Thank you very much Stefano Celeghin, Reservation Department. So in retrospect, it's better that I didn't become a guest at a place like this where they ask for bank card details and CVV numbers via email or phone after an official, confirmed reservation, with this attitude. Shame... Why does a receptionist insist on my credit card details, the CVV number, and refuse to find another solution to the alleged problem? Because there is another solution! I don't recommend it!

What’s happened!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

We stayed there last year and had a great time. Told friends how good it was and returned with them and ended up totally embarrassed. Booked through BA again there was no breakfast available when booking, we were told breakfast would be an extra 40 euros per person! Not good if you just wanted a coffee and Croissant. The mini bar had doubled from last year 8 euros for a water! We didn’t once see anyone drinking in the bar as the prices were 4 times the lively little bar 50 yards away. Our first room was ok until with heavy rain overnight we were awaken with a wet pillow and rain splashing on our faces, the bed side table and phone were drenched, we were eventually moved to another room which was not as nice, carpets were splashed with what looked like bleach stains, not once were we offered an apology or some kind of recompense for a full wasted day! There were previous looking leaks all over the ceiling, you could see from the roof terrace it was obvious here the leak was coming from but had not been fixed. After previous good stays by us and other family members we will not be returning, it feels like they are only interested in taking as much money as they can from you with no customer service.

Resting on the past

Beautiful palace. Public spaces are lovely. We stayed in a junior suite that was not clean at all. The bathroom door had spots on the floor ( I didn’t want to know what they were) and were there the entirety of our stay. The linens were of a poor quality. We had turn down only one night, no new towels. Rugs are filthy and tripping hazards. Please stay elsewhere if you have a chance.

Awful experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

This hotel is not a five star L, may be a 4 stars hotel. The one and only restaurant is no open on Mondays and nobody at the reception golf me before hand. The ugliest experience I had was one night when my black nightgown disappeared and nobody took responsibilty for “the disappearance”. The direttrice of the albergo / hotel never replied to my emails. SLH did little to forcé the hotel Director to respond. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

“It’s a nice hotel, the staff is very attentive. However, although the rooms are lovely the main lobby and rest of the hotel is really nothing special.”
-Stuart

“I was satisfied with our room and the service of the staff. The only disappointment was the so called light lunch included in our package which actually translated to a bowl of nuts and a bowl of chips. But on the whole it is a beautiful hotel.”
-Gaurav

Ca' Sagredo was a delightful experience. Located on the Grand Canal, just a stone's throw from the water bus stop and with its own water taxi dock for those who prefer that method of transfer, it was easy to get to. The hotel itself is very pleasant with an outside dining area right on the canal, or a small inside dining room. We had dinner one night at the hotel and found it to be delicious. The staff was competent and pleasant, and the room comfortable and reasonably spacious. I would recommend the hotel.

The setting on the Grand Canala made our fiftieth wedding anniversary really special. The Ca' Sagredo was a perfect spot to experience the magic and romantic history of Venice. The hotel is palatial with lovely murals, exquisite floors, classical furniture, glistening chandeliers and Murano glass light fixtures. The entire hotel staff was superlative and incredibly charming and helpful. The restaurant was excellent with a lavish breakfast buffet and candlelight dinners overlooking the gondolas and boats on the canal. The piece de resistance was our rooftop terrace attached to our luxurious suite. This is a hotel to remember and re-visit.

We spent four wonderful nights at the Ca' Sagredo Hotel. We found the staff to be efficient, helpful and courteous. They were unobtrusive yet available when we needed their assistance. The room was magnificent and very comfortable. It was cleaned quickly and well each morning, usually while we were out at breakfast. We were promised the best view available on our arrival and they followed through on the promise. Our water view room was only one back from the rooms fronting the canal and since it was on the third floor, the view was stunning. The food served at breakfast was delicious, offered a wide selection, and was served in two beautiful rooms by very gracious staff. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and each staff member we encountered from our first contact to our last was wonderful. The hotel is truly a beautiful palace and we appreciate the excellent service provided by the entire staff.
