The 5* NH Collection Venezia Grand Hotel Palazzo dei Dogi is located in the calm residential quarter of Sestiere Cannaregio, Venice. The hotel has close proximity to local artisanal shops and transport links, with access to a private pier with views of the island of Murano. Excellent hotel. We stayed in Venice two nights and were made really welcome by the friendly staff. The hotel is situated 30 mins walk from St Mark’s square. This should not put you off as the hotel is in a quiet area and the walk is interesting.

I had very high expectations about this hotel and the experience has been disappointing. At the reception the staff was busy talking to each other, very slow and rather unpleasant. Check out was much nicer but the bad impression stayed. The room was very cold and the solution I was offered was to add a small electric heater, in a 5 star hotel ! Moreover the engineer/handyman could not speak Italian, neither English. The interiors need a comprehensive renovation as it starts looking old and used (elevator, doors, carpets….) and, though this might be a subjective remark, decoration is pretentious and cheap. Breakfast was ok but definitely not at the level of quality you can expect for the price. Even the espresso was at best acceptable. Staff was numerous but not courteous neither helpful.

This hotel was perfect for a romantic getaway. It is simply beautiful. The staff are attentive but not intrusive. They were always ready to help. The location is amazing on the edge of Venice. We really appreciated the tranquility of the gardens leading down to the water. The area around the hotel was gorgeous with more bars and restaurants only a couple of canals away. Breakfast was fantastic with lots of choice. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will certainly be back!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hotel Palazzo dei Dogi. The hotel location is in a quiet section of Venice yet a short 15 minute walk to the Rialto bridge. We upgraded to an absolutely beautiful room towards the rear of the property which was accessible via a nice walking path through a garden area. The lobby was very nicely decorated for the holiday season. The best part of the hotel was its incredibly friendly staff, which included the super helpful Chiara and Patrick - both of whom patiently provided lots of touring and dining tips. In terms of getting to the hotel, I would advise taking a water taxi (80 euro) to/from the train station. This was slightly better option for us than using a luggage porter (50 euro).

Spectacular, beautiful, quiet, comfortable and well-appointed hotel in a wonderful neighborhood area of Venice. We stayed for 3 nights (with 2 rooms) in November so it was low season (Venice is always busy but this was bearable). The hotel is converted palace with beautiful gardens and grounds - very unusual for Venice. The rooms were extremely nice and comfortable (plus, we got an upgrade with AMEX platinum) and the front office staff were wonderful, including recommendations for tours, restaurants, and making water taxi arrangements. The breakfast was well done, and the bar was also great (grab drinks in the bar or bring them outside on the canal or into the garden). Would highly recommend and definitely return.
