About the Hotel
A unique location, overlooking the Grand Canal, Palazzo Barocci emerges like a gem amongst the streets and alleys of the city. Originally built in the 1300s as a domus maioris, this building became Teatro Sant’Angelo in 1676 and was first transformed into a private home and then into a hotel. Lovely Venice
The hotel is in a perfect location in Venice, right on the water. If you like taking the water taxis around they will pick you up right in front of the hotel, convenient. I would say to be careful of certain restaurants that say they canter to tourists but in reality, they would rather not have you there. The experience was so bad I had forgotten the name of the place, sorry for that.

Rooms are super tiny and front desk staff are not friendly
My mother and I had to stay at this hotel because our airline canceled our flight. We paid 833.00 euros for a room called "Superior with Partial View". This room was barely big enough for one person. We arrived at 10am, and were made to wait until 1pm for our room. We wound up checking out at 5:30am to catch our rescheduled flight. This would all have been fine as everything was last minute and you expect to be ripped off even though you are traveling we an 80-year-old with mobility issues. But the attitude of the front desk was atrocious and very cold. We weren't offered water or coffee at any point. We were not permitted to wait in the "lounge" because they were storing all the early arrivers luggage in there. When we were finally shown to our room, we were grateful that our luggage was transported for us. The bathroom was very tiny and the living space was ridiculous. It did have a partial view of the Grand Canal which was lovely. They also arranged a water taxi for us the next morning, which was appreciated. The overnight front desk gentleman was very polite, friendly and helpful. During the afternoon I went out for some food for my mom who was not up for walking. When we finished and headed outside, I asked the front desk if I could leave the packaging with them because I did not want to leave food in the room. They said "you should bring it outside to throw away". I plan to visit Venice again soon and will definitely not stay here.

Wonderful stay
We had a 3 night stay at this lovely hotel. Initially we were concerned re the size of our room but realised that in Venice this is normal. Other than that we loved everything about our stay. The hotel is stylish and modern. The location is excellent- walkable to Piazza San Marco and very close to Rialto. There is a waterbus station outside the front door of the hotel which is so convenient. The breakfast is really good and the outdoor terrace is beautiful. In the evenings we had a drink at the rooftop bar before bed and it was the perfect way to end the day. The staff were so attentive and helpful. Katrin in the rooftop bar was the sweetest. No hesitation in recommending this lovely hotel.

Never Again!
- Great location - AC worked well - Walk outside and the water-bus is 10 feet from the door - The room - the worst in the house - Room 107 - if you get it - refuse it - Day 1 came in and just wanted to shower. The drain would not go down. Black mold was floating everywhere. The most disgusting thing I have ever experienced. Told the front desk and they fixed it for the most part. The rest of the trip just drained slow. - We were put next to the elevator that you hear all night going up and down..down and up - Now let’s talk about cleanliness. Shower door didn’t close and kept coming off the tracks. - Mold in the shower and on the rails of the shower. - Carpet and drapes - filthy. Blood stains on the drapes. Just gross. - Day 2 - got out of the shower only to hear the toilet continue to run. Called the front desk and they said to flush it a few times. Scratch head….that did work. - Bed sheets very very old with spots.

Palazzo Barocci is a true gem!
What a wonderful hotel, staff and location for our first visit to Venice! We couldn’t have asked for a better spot and the water taxi stop was steps away from the front door. Our partial view of the canal was perfect and very quiet at night. We wouldn’t have wanted to stay anywhere else in Venice.
