Wonderful experience overall, with beautiful modern rooms, stunning public areas, a great location (central but tucked away from the crowds), decent food and some genuinely friendly and sincere staff interactions. Whilst we would definitely return, there were too many off notes for a 5 star rating. The Grand Canal View Suite was poorly lit (especially the bedroom, which was very gloomy), and there was constant noise pollution from the floor above, with the sound of walking, rolling noises (like a suitcase or room service trolley), and even voices, all being audible at numerous points throughout the day and evening. Although we had requested a rollaway bed for our daughter in advance, and the hotel confirmed this at check-in, it was absent when we got to our room at 4pm, still had not been delivered when we returned from dinner some time after 8pm, and only finally arrived after 9pm (by which time our daughter was already asleep). Our daughter was ill, and although the hotel was aware of this, nobody showed particular concern, and at no point was there any follow-up to enquire as to how she was or to check if we needed any assistance. When a staff member came to collect our room service items, he did not bring a trolley, and had to run numerous trips back-and-forth carrying things by hand and leaving them around the corner at the lift. This was inconvenient (the whole procedure took a while) and just really strange - not something I have ever experienced at any hotel of any class which offers room service. We thought we would take advantage of the famous St Regis butler service to order complimentary tea one afternoon, but to our surprise were charged for the drinks. We paid without without querying this, but were confused about what if any benefits butler service would actually provide. At least in relation to hot drinks, it felt to us like butler service was simply room service with a fancy name. Finally, I had to chase for my invoice to be sent by email after the hotel promised at check-out to send it in lieu of a hard copy (something that seems all too common at hotels from various brands). Hopefullly we were just unlucky, and despite these points the hotel would still be at the top of our list for a future visit.

My wife and I, we are celebrating my wife's birthday at the hotel. At first, we are not sure that if hotel can do something for us because the days we stay in hotel is not exactly my wife's birthday date. It's two days later. But since we are going to a mountain area and we think there may not be a good place for celebration, so we decide to celebrate at hotel in advance. While we told hotel front desk we are celebrating our birthday, the staff said they will prepare us a birthday cake. We feel very happy. While the day comes, the hotel even give us a very very big surprise. Nicole and Arianna, they make our room very romantic, with balloons, flowers, cards, and two Tiramisu cakes! We really really feel very surprised and touching! They give us much more than we expect and feel like we are warmly welcome! Excellent hotel, excellent staff, excellent service! We will never forget this and feel very appreciated!

Everything from the rooms to the service was just perfect! Every single person we interacted with was so friendly and helpful. The waiters, concierge, bartenders, etc. the rooms were modern and beautiful (hotel renovated a few years ago). We booked and deluxe room and a superior deluxe room and requested connecting bc we are traveling with kids and they came through. Granted, we have very high Marriott status. Breakfast was included with our status and was absolutely delicious and they even made things that were not on the menu for the kids. (Avocado toast) They even made our iced coffees the way we like them which is hard to find in Europe. The art in the lobby and restaurant was so amazingly beautiful including a very special chandelier made by Ai Weiwei. To top it all off, they have a partnership with a glass “factory” in Murano and offered us a complimentary ride and tour to watch a glass making demonstration. We then toured their gallery and ended up purchasing a substantial piece of glass art (so they were smart to offer the free ride there) and also wandered around all the glass shops and let the kids pick out some souvenirs as well. Ok back to the rooms, the marble in the bathrooms was so beautiful and the shower was spacious and had good pressure. Unlike many other European hotels, the room was well lit.

My husband and I spent three nights here and were upgraded to the most lovely canal corner room. Breakfast wasn't great, but all other aspects were top-notch. We both would return and enjoyed our time. Other than breakfast, there was not one flaw. The staff was always accommodating.

We had booked three rooms at the hotel with views. When we checked in despite our status, no upgrades were available. When we were shown to our rooms two had tiny windows that faced another building or roof so no views, and the rooms were small. As the hotel was fully booked there was apparently little they could do to move us to other rooms and we saw others at check in having similar issues. Bar service was just ok. General hotel service was also just ok. The bellboys serving at the boat dock were very spotty, some were helpful and some stood to the side while our elderly parents were trying to board a boat not helping at all. The hotel layout is basically a few buildings cobbled together so each floor has twists and turns and stairs to get to rooms. If you have accessibility needs I would really not recommend it. Honestly would not recommend this hotel overall anyway. Haven't stayed in others in Venice but if this is what is considered one of the best, Venice service must be quite terrible in general? I don't know, there must be something better around!
