Reviews for InterContinental Washington DC - The Wharf

A Wonderful stay.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We had lots of good luck with this hotel and really enjoyed our 3 night stay. I reserved a room with a king room with a freestanding soaking tub, which I specified again in the notes during the reservation process. It seemed clear that having this in writing helped get the room we wanted. I took a long hot bath all three nights. We were upgraded to a corner suite. (We are IGH members). What an awesome view! I really want to thank the staff for the upgrade. Our stay would have been good regardless, but the upgrade made everything so special. All-in-all a great experience. I would 100% book this hotel again. It’s a really good value for the area and amenities. We arrived too early to check in, but were offered a chance to “pre-check” so all we had to do was give our names (and a reminder request for the TUB) when we returned after dinner. They held our luggage. This hotel is in a great location if you’re visiting the museums at the Mall. There’s a free shuttle that runs in a loop stopping right by the hotel and dropping off in front of the Hirshhorn, but it’s also walkable at about 15 min. Lots of descent restaurants and a CVS for basics nearby too. The hotel restaurant was ok, but I gotta say I loved the convenience and the staff was very pleasant. Breakfast is expensive, easily $30-40 a person (we’re from NYC so we are used to high prices, but still). Book the breakfast option with your room. There’s a Nespresso machine in the room too so you can ease into your day. The affiliated 12 stories bar , which I had hoped to visit for the views, didn’t seem to be open while we were there. Fortunately our room’s views did not disappoint.

Service, Views, Atmosphere & Cleanliness.

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience at the Intercontinental. Yes, the pillows and the beds are amazing. But…I was in town with friends to scope and plan out wedding plans and the staff was so incredibly helpful and kind, they may as well have been my wedding planners. Special thank you to the concierge, Benjamin and front of desk Ercan. The location is ideal. Amazing views, clean rooms, central to the Mall. I had apps that were good but didn’t experience a full meal. All staff were readily pleasant and helpful including Edgar at the bar. He’ll design it for you like you like, just tell him!

I had an incredible stay at this hotel! The rooms were spotless, spacious, and well-designed, with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable visit. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile. Erinn, in particular, went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect.

The Most Helpful Agent I Have Ever Meet

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

On our stay at the Intercontinental over the weekend of the 1/3 to the 1/5, Me and my family meet one of the most knowledgeable and helpful agents named Aaron or Andy (Not sure his name). He went out his way to answer our questions, clear up some confusion we had with our reservations and gave us the best accommodations he could even though it was a busy weekend with a wedding party also staying at the hotel. Me and my family will be back, and we hope Aaron or Andy will be the one assisting us when we check in. Hotels need more front office agents like him
