About the Hotel

Constructed in 1891 as a headquarters for Riggs National Bank, the landmark example of Richardson Romanesque architecture was known as the Bank of Presidents, and resides at the intersection not just of 9th and F Street, but of American history.

Front desk and valet
Charlotte at the front desk and valet person wereWONDERFUL. There was chaos (produced by traffic) getting to the valet stand. I abandoned my car and went to the front desk. Charlotte immediately took charge of the situation— Radioing the valet attendant and then leaving her post to find him. The valet attendant then walked to the car and drove it around the traffic to let my (disabled) wife and dog off in front of the hotel. Charlotte then contacted the restaurant to let them know we would be late for dinner. Brava!

A good view of Washington DC
Just the right size room for a family of 4, great restaurant recommendations from the staff. In addition the front desk was amazing especially charlotte, best shower since we have been travelling around America. Overall the staff were friendly and extremely helpful.

Perfect hotel for us
This is a lovely hotel. The location is amazing. The staff was warm and wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone. We really enjoyed the visit and felt it was a great value for the price. I will choose this hotel anytime I find myself in Washington DC again!

Excellent staff
I had a fantastic stay at The Riggs Hotel thanks to Charlotte at the front desk. She picked up on our special occasion at check-in, even through we hadn't mentioned it in our reservation as there was a big group of us, but she made it unforgettable with a complimentary upgrade and bottles of bubbles waiting in the room. It was the perfect start to our trip. The bar at the Cafe Riggs is spot on for cocktails and the entire team made us feel so welcome. I have stayed at their London property a few times and this DC experience was just as impressive. Great location, great staff. You're in excellent hands if you choose to stay here.

Thanksgiving in the nations capital
My family and I visited over Thanksgiving and could not have picked a better hotel. The location is prime, the staff were wonderful, and the food was delicious! Was concerned about parking but had zero issues. There is a great theatre within walking distance so we caught a 4D movie. We were planning our return trip before we checked out.
