Reviews for Camden Harbour Inn

Great Inn and worth the trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We found the Inn and staff exceptional with special shout out to Gilbert and the staff at the restaurant for breakfast. We enjoyed the breakfast and the amenities that the hotel provided in the room. Beverages were provided free of charge in the room along with a nightly gift and chocolates. The lobby and hotel grounds were beautifully maintained and decorated for the fall. Gilbert was so extremely friendly and helpful to us in finding places in the area to visit, shop and dine. We enjoyed the candy area in the lobby which brought back memories of our childhood favorites. We would highly recommend this Inn to anyone coming to the area. We hope to return to Camden and the Harbour Inn in the near future. Thank you for making our visit so enjoyable.

DON’T BE FOOLED

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I don’t know where to start. First let me tell you that I own a travel company and travel often. Also, I specialize in culinary travel. I have NEVER given a 1 star review before. But they lived up to it. We booked our stay in August for our 20th anniversary. We booked the culinary package, proud foodie here! The package offered a meet and greet with the chef, signed menu, and 6 course chef’s tasting. My husband also called and booked a private cooking class with the chef on Saturday afternoon. I really wanted to do the lobster boat with cooking class but I have a medical issue so staying around the inn close to our room was a must. Upon booking they were extremely accommodating, telling us everything we needed to hear. Living up to their “personalized, luxury” service. Well, it didn’t last long. Hours Before arriving the hotel manager called and informed us that they booked our cooking class on the wrong day and were unable to do it on Saturday. While the manager did offer two other options they were all not doable. One was away from the inn again we had informed them multiple times about my condition. The second was doing the class on the day we were leaving. Who wants to pay for a private cooking class when you have a 5 hour drive back home and can’t enjoy their great wine selection (again the have been awarded the wine spectator award) so you want the whole experience. That’s what I am paying for. After thosetwo options he was unable to find anything for us on Saturday afternoon. We checked in and our room was lovely at first glance. But the balcony was covered in mold, siding rotten and dirty. And let me be clear their ocean views from anywhere at the inn are nonexistent. I’m not kidding. Friday evening we went for our chef’s tasting. That was awful as well. No one knew what package we booked and what was offered with it. We never met the chef and never got a menu. We booked a culinary weekend and a location that offers personalized luxury experiences and they failed at every single one. I am floored that they have received the awards and recognition that they have DON’T be fooled by the language on the website and the awards and recognition they have received. They didn’t come close to living to those expectations and completely ruined our anniversary weekend. I have never felt so scammed in all of my travels. My advice go somewhere else, anywhere else is better. In my husbands words the best thing they could is make us forget the weekend ever happened it was that bad.

Caveat emptor!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

We made reservations for two nights. Twenty-five days prior to our arrival we realized we needed one more night at the front of our stay. The Inn could not accommodate us for that additional night, so we had to cancel. The Inn charged us $50.00 for “processing the cancellation” twenty-five days in advance! Their written policy states that cancellation 14 days prior to arrival invokes a $50 fee, less than 14 days your deposit is non-refundable. Fortunately there are other wonderful Bed and Breakfast locations in Camden that valued us as customers, not as an opportunity to extract a fee using an ambiguous, and egregious, cancellation policy. We’ll not be back.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The staff here is so friendly and accommodating, which always enhances a vacation. The actual accommodations were awesome! I really miss the comfort of that amazing bed and waking up to the beautiful view of the bay. This was the first place that I booked for our Maine vacation and it ended up being our last stop! Could not imagine a better ending. Thank you all so much!

I can't say enough good things about this Inn. I felt like I should have paid them more at the end of the stay which is something you rarely feel these days!
