Reviews for French Quarter Inn

The FQI takes Southern Hospitality to the next level!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This hotel is INSANE when it comes to amenities! The last time I saw such hospitality was at Disney World's Polynesian Resort... 20+ years ago. When you check in, they hand your child a sweet Charleston coloring book and customized set of colored pencils (with built-in sharpened) to keep the little ones occupied sans screen, and also get them familiarized with all the Holy City has to offer. Reception was EXCEPTIONALLY warm upon arrival, and you're greeted by not only friendly faces who treat you like an old friend, but also complimentary sweets in an old-world apothecary lineup that my son came back to time and again (always the Skittles) ;) And the 'complimentary' didn't end there. Every night, there was a LAVISH wine and charcuterie spread, where all the guests convened and sat around the gorgeous lobby and hearth, chatting gaily and nomming on meats, cheeses, dates, and the like. And THEN at 8:30pm every night, the cookies and milk came out. That's right, every night we could rouse from the comforts of our luxurious suite and glide down to the lobby once more for fresh baked cookies (and sometimes also brownies, too), and milk from a sweet silver dispenser, just like I'm sure they did in the days of Downton. Talk about an experience. PLUS, every morning, the complimentary breakfast knocked our SOCKS off before we'd even had a chance to put them on. We took ours in our room on the terrace, but you can also head back to the lobby and scoop up your own. We're talkin' delicious buttery eggs, bacon, pastries and muffins (even GF), fruits, juices, parfait mixin's, avocado toast -- YOU NAME IT. And the coffee, tea, and detox waters are available all day every day from morning to night. And THEN, if you haven't yet had your fill of free, they have the sweetest nostalgic bicycles you can take out to explore the city at your leisure-- ALSO free. (Think: Light blue bikes with wicker baskets on the front, sweet FQI branding, and even built-in-bike locks so you can ride to breakfast or lunch and not have to worry about having a ride home). Upon arrival, you can request little experiences like champagne and strawberries if you're looking to take a romantic getaway to the next level, and we even found a little custom scent linen spray on our bed when we arrived. (My new favorite scent). The rooms were beautiful and expansive (ours had a fireplace we used a LOT), and even the bathrooms had little touches like 'bidet wipes' next to the toilet paper, and a beautiful vintage-handled soaking tub. And if all that isn't enough for you, the hotel is located smack dab in the middle of all the best restaurants and attractions in the city. City Market is one block over, as is Anson's, Henry's, the Emeline, and Church & Union, to name just a few. The pineapple fountain is right down the street, and if you're looking for coffee drinks beyond what the hotel offers, you have Bitty and Beau's across the street, Harken a few streets beyond that, Black Door, and others all within a 4-minute walk. Plus, Market Street, the Hugenot Church, the historic Mills House hotel, and other cultural and architectural beauties are all within a few blocks of the hotel! You cannot beat this location. Even in the dead of winter, this hotel made us feel the warmth of Southern hospitality from the moment we arrived, and we will absolutely be back to soak it all up again. Thank you for having us, French Quarter Inn -- Our Charleston home away from home!

Perfect Boutique Hotel

The suite was perfect. Roomy, comfortable and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. What really made this stay special was the attention by the staff, taking care of every need, and even beyond. A perfect location for visiting historic Charleston. This is my fourth stay and won't be my last!

One of the finest places I have stayed in and I have travelled a lot! Elegant but not over stated, comfortable, clean & relaxing. Continental breakfast in our room at no additional charge and actually this hotel didn’t nickel and dime us on anything. They have an amazing spread every evening with complimentary wine & cheese and fresh hot cookies before bed. I can’t say enough good things about this hotel.

Outstanding hotel!

Excellent customer service. Hotel is in a great location-walk to all the main attractions in Charleston. The common area is comfortable to hang out in, feels like home. Drinks such as water, coffee and tea are available in the common area 24/7. Breakfast is included and can be brought to your room free of charge! Happy hour provides wine and snacks and night time is milk and cookies- all included in your stay! The staff is friendly and helpful, they all go above and beyond. They have a pillow menu too! You can order from several types of pillows to make your stay even better! Highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel has nice touches with daily breakfast, early evening wine, and cheese and cookies at night. It was great to socialize with the other guests during these events. The room service staff were friendly and attended every detail, including a note about the weather and outside temptature. I highly recommend staying at this hotel. The location is amazing in the center of everything of downtown Charelston. We plan to be back to Charleston and staying at the same hotel.

I am a former chef and am now a catering director at a private country club. Being extremely picky and wanting the best possible accommodations and food - we were nothing but happy with French Quarter Inn!

My wife and I stayed at the French Quarter Inn on a Monday and Tuesday evening. As our second visit to Charleston, we wanted to enjoy the Battery area history and restaurants for a couple days. French Quarter Inn was fantastic! The staff really set the stage for a memorable and rejuvenating visit. Charleston really is a unique and wonderful city, and I highly recommend the French Quarter Inn for helping us take a little of Charleston with us.
